Hi Rod. Firstly a big huge thanks for your very kind comments in my Snowdonia album. As I've said before, the fact that you are an exceptional photographer yourself makes it all the more special when you like my piccies. I have quite a few more to put on from other areas, Portmerion, Beaumaris and Carnarfon Castle, but its taking some time sorting through them. I love taken them all but there are always hundreds of them by the time I get home. I'm dreading how many I will come back with after my holiday to Cornwall this year and Scotland next year. My brother tells me Scotland is gorgeous and I can see that is true from the wonderful photos you have in your albums. Its a good job I take my laptop away or I would have to take a suitcase full of memory cards with me. Anyway, enough of my chit chat, I thoroughly enoyed going through this album. I had seen some already but not at the time when you could leave the comments under each pic. Plus you have some new ones. I must find out what camera you use Rod as whatever it is, it takes wonderful photos. Hope you are keeping well. Take care now. Love Chesca #####

Hi Rod, I really enjoyed the new additions to this already wonderful album! Thanks for your kind messages in my Butterfly album today. We have also had some rain - the heavens opened this afternoon as we were on our way up the hill to the Butterfly House and, of course, we were not prepared for it, and were like drowned rats when we got to the top! But it was lovely and cool! Best wishes, Mandy

Many thanks for your fine comments about my Featured Album-I was especially interested in this album of yours because my ancestors (Drake family) come from that part of England, with the old Drake manor somewhere near Ashe. I would like to visit there someday-but I can enjoy Devonshire now with your lovely photos. Terry, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Rod, I love your new additions but I'm frustrated! I'm trying to find a map that gives the area names rather than just county names. My curiosity wants to know where Dartmoor, or Coffinswell Valley are in relation to Gillingham & Shaftesbury in Dorset. I do know that Dorset and Devon are adjoining counties (at least I think that's correct). In my heart I'm planning a trip; I pray it will come to fruition. I need/want to check out my ancestral ground in northern Dorset and Hay Tor Rocks (maiden name is Hayter). If you have any links to better maps for me, please let me know. ... In the meantime, I am living through your albums, and Jayne's, Jill's, Ken's and others!

Keep 'shooting' and sharing - I love all you do.
Judy aka L@dybug, Florida

Hey Rod - I love those chimneys at Dartington. Is that in the grounds of Dartington Hall? They look familiar and we must have seen them many times back in the 1960's but they couldn't have registered at the time. Thanks indeed for your gracious words in my Kingdom of the Karri Part 2 GB - those forests are just wonderful and no way do mere photos convey the atmosphere and the sheer sense of well being one gets when roaming through them. It frustrates me a bit that I can't capture those sensations. I know I've posted a lot of albums lately - and there's still one more to come - but because our trips involve many hundreds of kilometres of driving we tend to take may hundreds of photos. I would love to be in the position of going out just to get one or two specific shots some time! You can do that because you have beauty all around you and on your doorstep! What's that they say about the grass being greener??? Best wishes Peter

Hi Rod, flying visit to thank you for your very kind words in my Lake District GB. It means a lot to me that you enjoyed viewing it. I took over 600 photos whilst there and found it really hard deciding which ones to include in my album. I can't wait to see the photos you come back with when you eventually visit. I expect they will be up to your usual stunning quality. There were so many areas i didn't manage to get to but plan to return as soon as I can. I am visiting Falmouth for a week in September so will be clicking away like crazy for sure. Take care now. Will be back again shortly. Chesca

Hi Rod. I can't understand why I didn't comment on the new photos in this album because I made some notes at the time. #51 is a wonderful piece of photography - the gulls are just superb and if ever a picture tells a story it is this one. #54 Your Pugwash would go well with my Snottygobble don't you think!! The Shaldon farmhouse in #55 is beautiful and would you believe I have a very similar photo on a slide somewhere. I used to drive past that house probably twice every week during my working days. Finally #56 is pure Devon and I love it. What Devonian could ever forget that red soil eh! Beautiful work, as always and a delight to my eyes. While I've got you, very many thanks for your generous comments in my Sundry photos album. Those giant sting rays would have to be about 5' across and about the same length. Later in our trip, at another location, we saw a couple more while we were on a glass bottomed boat. Time now for morning tea - catch you later, Peter

Hi Rod, once again and thanks for liking my Through the Forests to the Ocean album. Those were two trips that will live in our memory, not so much for the trips themselves but for the places they got us. I would love to have been able to capture the sand dunes in a better way but just lacked the experience and know how to get the best results. The beach, though, was a different kettle of fish altogether and boy, was I in my element! Thanks again and all best wishes, Peter

Hello Rod, I remember seeing thatched cottages just outside of London – I’ve flown to England twice (IBM business trips), but managed only short trips away from the meeting in London. I’ve driven to Stonehenge, but that was the furthest west I’ve gone. On the web I discovered that Cockington is considered a medieval village and is noted in the Domesday Book (Williams’ Tax collection guide). That same web site said it was the most photographed place in England – quite a feat, if true – and that even the toilets are covered in thatch. Thank you for your kind comments on our album "Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge RR - Featured 11/8/05". Ed & Helen/Albuquerque

Where IS that Devon valley Rod? I have been trying hard to place it but it is so typical of the district that I've had no success. The Teignmouth pic is the one you sent the day before our trip a few weeks ago and that is a real ripper and the gulls bombing the fisherman is a masterpiece of spontaneous photography. Wonderful viewing Rod. Cheers now, Peter

Hello Rod. Now it is my turn to congratulate you on this outstanding feature, albeit that I am somewhat late. Your photos are of exceptional quality and your macro bird shots are awesome. If I had to choose a favourite it would be shot #44, the 'Whistling Ducks at Dawlish', but a close second would be #2 of the 'Robin'. I also would like to thank you for your generous words in my feature guestbook a few days ago. I appreciate your support. If you would like to choose a photo that you especially like from any of my albums, I would be honoured to add it to the 'Your Favourites' album. Hope to hear from you. Best wishes, Jayne xx

Hi Rod, What a mammoth task you have set your self, digitising all these wonderful images, and having to visit all these wonderful places, I have just returned from Cyprus but my wife Carolynn says she would much rather go to Scotland or the west country or anywhere in Britain, so I might be treading on your toes a little bit, but there is plenty of pics to go around, You realy must come over to our side of the country, There are some real jems to be hunted out, Keep up the good work, i see from below you have a new fan in Beth from California, We were privileged to have a lunch and drink with her and Les while they were here on holiday, a super lady and a great photographer, back soon, I am gradualy catching up after my hols good luck Ken

Hi Rod! Thanks for your ever-so-kind words in my featured Devon album today (even though w/s called it Cornwall). Seeing your photos I must say it is high praise indeed and I'm honored. You have so many great shots - your bird portraits are outstanding. But How Green Is My Valley is my top favorite - that says "England" to me more than anything. I wish I had room on my favorites list to add you - I will definitely be back when I've finished with my thank-yous. I will be bookmarking your site to be sure I don't lose it. Cheers and warm greetings from California, Beth

Dear Rod, I too like so many before me love this album, there is so so much to view and spend time looking at. I really must find Cockington village one day and your sepia postcard image works perfectly. Your sunsets are just stunning and I am really impressed with the interior shot of Exeter cathedral , not easy as I found out when taking pictures inside Canterbury cathedral recently. I love your night time fantasy Its fun to play with Photoshop :o) I have so much still to learn but the spot metering on the seaguls works really well and how did you get those seagulls in picture 41 to be in the right place just as you clicked the shutter LOL. This is a wonderful album I'm sure like so many others of your's I will be back to view it once more Take care now Jill.

Hi Rod - I love this album and have looked at it several times. I am partial to the 'Whistling-Ducks at Dawlish' - I have never seen ducks with such a lovely blue on their legs, feet and beaks in addition to that of their feathers. The male as always, wears the best dress! I enjoy your talent! ... Judy

Hi Rod. Our mate Peter (georgieboy98)suggested that I have a look at your albums and I'm glad that he did. I've only looked at this one so far and I love everything about it. The photos all say "look at me" and I did. lol. It's bloody hard to pick a favourite, what with the green valley, the boats in the bay, the sunsets, the old style houses. WOW!! Just to pick one I'll have your "River Teign Sunset". I will get back and one at a time I'll go through the rest of your albums. Thanks for sharing my friend. Al in Australia. PS. I have an album of photos taken at Cockington Green, a miniture village modelled on the village of Cockington in England. It just might interest you.Bye!

Hi Rod and I want to thank you for your very kind words in my More Views Of Perth album. It's a great city to just wander around with a camera but it's not old enough to have the character of some of your great English cities. Also, as you will have noticed, the light is a lot harsher out here so we do have to soften our photos just a little. By the way, I have found another old photo I might send you for ID in a day or two if you don't mind. Thanks again and best wishes, Peter

hello Rod, once again and I am fast running out of superlatives to describe your photos. These last two are so delightful and possibly being a Devonian (albeit exiled) enables me to appreciate them the more. I remember the Church very clearly but have to admit that in my memory all the cottages looked the same (which, of course, they are anything but). You managed to be in the right place at the right time (as you so often seem to be!!) and captured the scene perfectly. Next please! All the best. Peter

Hi Rod. I have already made comments on this wonderful album of yours - suffice to say I keep returning to it on average a couple of times a month. We could see Thatcher Rock from our lounge window when we lived in Teignmouth, also the Ness at Shaldon and part way up the Teign and across Dartmoor (why did we ever leave???) Many thanks for your entry in my Jetties guest book, also your description of Berry Pomeroy castle. Somewhere I have a photo of our kids in front of that castle. Could you do me a favour please? I have just been scanning some 40+year old slides of my dad's - all taken around Devon and Cornwall. There are quite a few I can't place so can I send them for you to identify? My email is peterdud@iinet.net.au. With many thanks Peter in Western Australia

It has been great looking at your super photos and they took me back some 35 years to when we lived in Teignmouth (we were there for many years before coming to Western Australia). In those days I only took slides but you have motivated me to scanning them into Photoshop and adding them to my own album collection. If you have any more pics of Teignmouth/Shaldon area I would love to see them. By the way, the black swans were a gift to Dawlish from our part of Western Australia, where all the swans are black!! Hello, I like very much your recent photo album. All pictures are vibrant and lovely colors added charm to your presentation. Recently, I am extremely busy and have not much time left to enjoy to takes pictures. Because of lack of my free time, it was my deliberate decision to post images taken last late fall before the first snow in Calgary. Please accept my apologies for long silent. Friendly and warm regards, Rafal

Hi, I came by, to tell you how much I liked the little Robin that is in Anna's Album of the finest, to me it was quite the best photo there. Now I am looking through this album. and enjoying it, I find there a building labeled Dartington, funny thing is that at the end of out street is a large building called Dartington that is a marriage chapel - we call it Darlington at the taxis where we work! Haha Also just loved your orange sunsets. Cheers Glennis from New Zealand.
