    • G'day Kathy. You allways come up with these good ideas. The spider and the fly was a very interesting bout. I thought women were frightened of spiders?? Hoping you are OK. Hugs Mate Al..

    • Hi Kathy, excellent story telling in pictures and very good photography! I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for you comments on my album: I think God had a lot of fun creating those birds. There were barrels of imagination going into the creation of all life, including flower-camouflaged spiders. Hanna

    • Ciao Kathy! Thanks so much for your nice comments in my feature album today. I thank you also for alerting Webshots to make it a feature! At least they know who to listen to ;-) I'm also very happy to have taken the opportunity to visit this precious album. It is wonderful! You must have infinite patience to get these great shots. I've downloaded some of these to my desktop (but not the ones with the fly). It has been a great entertainment for me and the yellow flowers have added sunshine to my foggy morning here in the Bay Area. Love and hugs, Beth

    • Hi Kathy! This is terrific! The drama of life in the wild! The spider looks so much like the flower that to a fly it may have just blended in. Well done!!! I'm glad the spider didn't get Lynne!!!!! LOL!!! Thanks so much for signing my feature and for all of your lovely and appreciated guestbook entries!!! I have been laid up with an injured knee and haven't been doing much with WS lately. I do want you to know how much I admire the way you see the world and how you capture it's beauty!!! • I like the 12th photo, which really shows how the trap is laid. This is called the Ridge-Faced Flower Spider, or also called a crab spider. Here is the excerpt from this link (http://www.conservation.state.mo.us/nathis/arthopo/mospider/kinds.htm) I found: "Misumenoides formosipes Crab Spiders, Family Thomisidae This small, whitish-yellow or yellowish-brown crab spider is commonly found in flower heads. Often its carapace is slightly greenish, with a broad whitish-yellow mid-band bordered by darker, thinner sides of yellowish-brown. Its eye region may be marked with red, and its legs are uniformly cream-colored. An unmarked abdomen is not unusual, but more typically it is marked with a brownish-yellow v, converging toward the carapace, and made up of various-sized spots or stripes. This spider can change its color to approximate that of its surroundings. Females are larger than males, reaching lengths of 5-11mm; males are 2.5-3mm. Thousands of minute crab spiderlings lie concealed in spring and summer flower heads, waiting to capture insects with their powerful forelegs. You are more likely to notice them after they have matured, in early autumn fields and pasture lands among plants such as daisy fleabanes, asters and goldenrods. Don't overlook your backyard snapdragons, queen anne's lace and marigolds. Insects such as bees, flies and other spiders (especially other crab spiders) make up a large portion of this spider's diet. Missouri distribution: statewide in open field and gardens that contain many composite-type flowers." Now, you know a little more about spiders and the nice photos you took. :-)

    • Hi Kathy! Love the concept... took a while to photograph it though, didn't it!! Now.. about the Greenhouse. It's been there for years.. tell your cousin that, when you drive on 90, get off at the Martin Luther King Boulevard and after you pass under a bridge, the entrance should be right there on the left. They do a variety of "shows" during the year.. this was the "winter&quot ; one, the spring one is the one I love. The smells are intoxicating!! Hope you can make it someday.. Regards.. Barb

    • Ok, this is the last time that you apologize with me for the ludicrous idea that I lost my time with you!! I went in webshots to share my shots and my love for nature with some new friends; I search also new ideas and the possibility to know some parts of our beautiful world across others eyes. When I receive one of your messages I’m happy !! You are one of my best webshots friends and I like your shots, your comments and also I wait for some criticism !! About Debra … I’m very honored that she alerted you about my shots; I visited her beautiful albums and I will visit them also in future.. this is sure! In effect I did’nt insert her in my prefered members only because we exchange few messages. About the explanations that I inserted in my last album…..It’s not a my idea…(only the maps are a my "invention&q uot;) I learn this beautiful practice from Orly (orlyyahalom). She is one of my prefered members and if you visit her page you understand how she is really a master to capture uman customs and explain her country (Israel) life. Look at the two last albums.... (If you take this visit give her the information that I alerted you about her jobs; ok ? :-) In this way you not will have future problems :-). I’m happy to have a friend like you… have a NICE day !! CIAOOOO Ruggero P.S.: My wife reciprocate your regards

    • Hi Kathy! Thanks for the real sweet comments on my album, Odds and Ends! Your right, the Emu is a smaller version of the ostrich, and a real funny looking creature! Titino isn't the only kitty that likes his tummy rubbed, and those poses of his are just so precious! I love these daisies, I just can't wait for Spring to come round so I can watch my plants in the yard grow! Happy Valentine's Day! Vicky from Pa.
