A Celebration of Spring in the Gardens - Featured 5-26-04

Hi Lynn !! Gorgeous album !!! So wonderful to see spring has sprung somewhere...we are expecting 3" of snow today !!!!! My favorites are "A Place to Perch" and "A Colorful Garden"...fantas tic shots !!! Lynn, Yes it is VERY dry here too. We are already in drought conditions when we should be having Spring floods. The pond is way down already and it should be overflowing. We got NO Spring rains at all. Scary to think what it will be like by August !! We better enjoy the beauty whilst we can ! - Pat

Well, Lynn, I hope you have a good trip. I would LOVE to meet you sometime to go on a picture-taking adventure - but don't plan on finding anything in Lompoc right now - I don't think there is even ONE flower field right now! I believe the peacocks at the Arboretum took a special liking of you and treated you with THE DANCE OF THE PEACOCKS - which is what two thirds of the album is about, They and You! By the way, the falls pics are my favorite by far in this album. Framed falls is a great pic! I took some falls pics in the Philippines too. The falls were the Pagsanjan Falls. I am going through like 600-700 pics I shot there. Sorting through the good and not so good ones.

Hi Lynn, What can I add to everything that's been said about this album! I have really enjoyed looking at your wonderful pictures, my favourite is "Colorful Garden" it's just so perfect. If you ever find out how you managed to get the fade to black effect I would be grateful if you would let me know. I have had the same effect on a number of occasions when the camera has been set on auto!!! I love the way it emphasises the flowers, but don’t know how to recreate it at will. Possible explanation of why the back ground is black. To start with the back ground was most likley quite dark to begin with and the flowers were in very bright sunlight. Your exposure meter read off of the brightly lit flower and darkened them up a bit so that they wouldn't be overexposed, which darkend up a already dark background to black. If you would have set exposure on the background it would have brightened up and shown detail but then your flowers would have been washed out. You did it the best way. This is my best guess. The over all scene was most likley very contrasty from forground to background. Thanks for sharing these great shots. Art In Portland Or.

Lynn, you have mastered the falls. Beautiful work with longer exposure. Thank you for the sweet comments in my President Bush album. I have had the pleasure of meeting 3 presidents.
