What is it about barns that look so friendly and inviting? They make me want to slow down and just enjoy the day. Thanks for letting me see these Arkansas barns through your eyes.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful album of these lovely old barns. I love old barns and it is very sad to see so many falling apart. Course, they are making way for new ones, but those just aren't the same. Everytime I see an old barn, I want to roam through it and climb to the loft...well, getting a little old for that, ha, but the thought is still there!! Thanks again for these wonderful pictures. I will be back to look at them again.

I love these old barns, and come back to this album from time to time. I suppose many of them are no longer standing. They provided shelter to lots of animals and families and have so many stories to tell. However, they are a good reminder that nothing on this earth is forever.

I'm very thankful for all the wonderful comments & kind words from my friends as they have paid many tributes on this fantastic album of Old Wooden Barns of Arkansas..I feel very lucky that I was asked to submit some of my captures of these classic old structures to help support the Arkansas FFA Foundation by the sale of this book. Once these old structures are gone..they are gone forever unless they have been preserved with the camera. Thanks to each of you for all your kind words..God's Blessings from Celina,Texas...<>< <>< <><

Hi Ken! I always enjoy viewing your Old Barns and love this outstanding collection. They are a special part of your heritage and just so uniquely American. Thankyou for taking the time to visit my new site and for your 3 lovely g/b entries. I appreciate that and it is good to be able to communicate again, besides, I just had to get away from these frustrations until a Miracle happens. Tried to find you on Fotki to see what you have put on there, but was not successful. Best wishes.. Gladys, Western Australia.

Hi Ken. i have been looking around through your albums again tonight, i enjoyed all the new ones expecially the one of the kids. i love it when people take an interest in trying to help the kids along. but i always wind up back in your barns , as you know there isn't many on the side of the road that Debbie and i don't have a picture of so i always enjoy seeing a lot of the same barns in other peoples site. Hope all is well with you my friend, enjoy the holiday weekend ahead and best wishes from arkansas, Ronnie

Geez, Big Daddy, looks like they haven't built any barns in Arkansas since the Depression! All kidding aside, this is an outstanding collection; I really enjoy looking at and photographing rural barns and you've done a fine job, really inspired me. Thanks so much for sharing. Thank You, For signing my guest book and the nice comments. I will leave a short caption soon on each picture. The majority of the photographs were taken at the Jersey Shore in New Jersey USA. The lighthouse is the Barnaget Lighthouse in Long Beach Island, New Jersey. I was flying the kite next to it and taking the picture at the same time. I started my hobby of photography two years ago. My camera is a Sony F828. It’s a great camera but it has a fixed lens. F2.8 TO 200. I have plans on getting a Cannon EOS-1Ds Mark II. “Dance Like No One’s Watching!” :o) John

Beautiful barn photos Ken. When I see an old barn I like to imagine all the people that were a part of it and their lifestyle and struggles. I hate to see them fall into disrepair because they don't build them like that any more. They all tell a story and I love to appredciate their beauty. Thanks for sharing and saving the memory of their beauty. Have a happy Easter. Max/Michigan

Dear Ken Thanks for your very encouraging comments on my featured album of Turkey shots today. I appreciate the time you took to write and I assure you that your comments are very helpful. I am glad you enjoyed viewing my photos but I had so much fun visiting Turkey and taking the photos that I hope you can make the trip yourself some day - it would be well worth it. Please visit my other albums as well, as there are many other fabulous places recorded in them from our travel throughout Europe and Australia over the last four years. Like you, I enjoy seeing the marvels of God's handiwork in nature, as well as the creativity of man-made features. Sincerely, Brian

They make wonderful photographic subjects too and I always find Barn albums interesting. Well done! Hi Ken thankyou for commenting on the BLOG about my albums, I have had alot of visiters! I sure hope I diddnt make you all feel like I was dissapointed in the members of WebShots, I'm not at all dissapointed, in fact have made freinds here I think. It just burns my cookies when I see tons of non paying customers on the topics pages and mine are no where to be found, dont get me wrong some of those photos really deserve to be there, some of them should probably be in private albums. But I really apperciate the members of Webshots who have left me feed back in my guestbooks, it really means alot to me. This album is really interesting have really enjoyed viewing them! old buildings of all sorts and there history can keep me fasinated for hours. thankyou for sharing them. Ronda from Washington State

Hi Ken, I've been so busy with my move to Colorado that I haven't had much time to keep up with Webshots for the past couple of months. But, I am experiencing some problems & thought I'd check in with you, as I know you had some problems last year & were even looking into other sites. It seems that over 1,600 of my photos, along with all related statistics and g/b entries have disappeared. I have no idea if I will be getting these back, or not. I have written to customer service, but have not heard back from them yet. Have you heard of others with the same problem? And, have you found another site that you are more happy with? I have invested so much time & energy into Webshots over the past 4 years that I hate to change, but this is really frustrating! Thanks for any help and/or light that you can shed on this matter! Blessings from Colorado - Lynn

Good morning Ken: It is nice to see barns preserved at least in photos - so many are deteriorating, falling down and being destroyed by development. Thank you for your comments on my featured album on the 7th. Your input is appreciated! Jim in Hurricane, UT and Longview, WA.

Hi Ken, thank you for writing in my guestbook. It was a funny suprise to see my pictures show up at the editor's picks for January 8. I've got more images online on Webshots, just check my other Webshots-accounts: Brotherscarface and Michelbergsma2. Will check your nice pictures later on this week. Friendly regards from The Netherlands, Michel.

I very much appreciated that you took the time to comment on my featured Fabulous Beaches album and be assured that I do regard this as a great honour. My best wishes to you and yours for 2006 and I hope it will be a happy and healthy time for you. Peter in Western Australia

Good Morning Ken. It is always nice to hear from you my friend. Thank you for the kind words in my guestbook today. I hope to make a trip back to the lake between Christmas and New Year's since I am off. Of course, it will depend on the weather. We are currently having rain so that means that the lake is getting snow of some kind. Would you explain your comment about Glen at BLOG? My apologies, but I did not understand that. Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas. Lynn

Hi Ken,I am sure I've viewed this beautiful album several times now but was surprised and ashamed that I hadn't commented on it before,a wonderful range of beautiful old barns and you must have spent quite some time both seeking them out and capturing them so well,as a Scot,I was intrigued to see you had a barn from the Scotland area of Arkansas,in my ignorance,I had no knowledge of a Scotland area and wonder if it was inhabited by a number of Scottish immigrants years ago.Congratulations on such a beautiful album and also for having so many of them deservedly published.I'd also like to say a big thank-you for choosing my Teign Sunset amongst your favourite images,I feel honoured and humbled my friend,Kind Regards,Rod.

What awesome barns! You know my family comes from Arkansas, Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma areas. My great-grandparents on my mother's side were married in the middle of the Red River for two reasons. First they were under age and the second was that they were first cousins. Not a good thing, but it did happen. I did not realize that there were still old buildings like these around. Just imagine, over a 130 years old AND made of wood from old Civil War homes. Amazing isn't it? Thank you for sharing this great album. Lynn, Bonanza/Oregon, USA

Ken, thank you very much for your kind comments on so many of our albums -"Balloon04", "Sandia Mts", "Firetowers", "SunsetMoon", "Albuquerque Sunsets", "Jemez Winter 1", and "Jemez Winter 2". I've enjoyed your "Barns of Arkansas, and I have a question - why are some built with a high peak roof and others much less sloped (similar to the roof on a house)? I don't have a farming background (raised in the city), and my only familiarity derives from the movies. Oh, and I know of Candy & Larry of Albuquerque (canary1976), but only as fellow WEBSHOT sharing photographers. Ed/Albuquerque

Dear Ken, Thank you for your support. I know how much you care about the community. Actually I thought you had given up trying to change things, but your message now encouraged me. I agree with you about the featured albums. Some of them are very good, but some of them are really not appropriate. It seems that Webshots is deteriorating, but in fact, all it takes is to change the attitude of a few people up there... or change a few people up there... let's hope. Take care and blessing from Israel. Orly

Thank you for the very kind words about the model aircraft photos. Although R/C (remote control) Aircraft is mostly a hobby, the passion ingrained in the creation of these models is reflected by the meticulous attention to detail. The ultimate goal is to produce an exact duplicate of the full size aircraft in a scaled down size. Some of these aircraft have complete cockpits that look fully functional. The craftsmanship is outstanding. I just try to capture these “works of art” with photography. Sincerely, Phil Bousquet (aircraftmodels1)

G'day Ken. It's a small world mate and I'll tell you why. About two days ago I was just sort of surfing around webshots looking at albums at random. I got onto your homepage and realised I didn't have time to have a look so I made a note of your user name so I could come back another time. At that time my "sunsets&quo t; album came up as the feature album but I didn't know, or expect it because I had one about three weeks ago. The amazing bit was when I seen your guest book entry. I thought "I was just at this blokes homepage and now he's at mine. Anyway mate, thanks for your nice compliments. I'll be back. Arnie..Whoops! I mean Al..Australia.

Hi Ken, I love old barns and see the beauty that still shines under all the loose and weather ravished boards. I find it so sad that in a lot of cases they go in disrepair. I think a lot of it is the difference in living styles we have today verses when they were a livley hood. Wouldn't it be great to see back in history and see how they served their owners. I think they are a part of our heritige and would love to see all of them shine again. I know it is not going to happen! You have at least captured them in their present beauty. Thanks Ken and thanks for sharing. Max/Michigan
