Although the photos of the lions in the tree were taken only a few feet from the lions, I have never found lions to be all that aggressive. I was in a Land Rover that was open, but no lion ever even thought about going into the vehicle, even when we were so close the lions moved to get in the shade of the Land Rover. Leopards are another matter. I had two encounters where I figured the leopard would have liked to attack, but was too far away. In one case, I was filming and a leopard was slipping up from behind while I was outside the Land Rover at the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater. But someone saw it and I got back into the vehicle.
