Some of my ancestors were from this general region, and I truly enjoy seeing photos of this gorgeous area. I was so sorry about the tragedy at Boscastle. One of my favorites in this album is the rural farm in Devon. THAT is the life! Charlotte in Texas

Thanks for your comments on my selections for the photo show, Rod. I value your opinion because you take such wonderful photos yourself. Well, today is the day! I'm excited and nervous too. And huge surprise: my grown granddaughter flew in from Spokane, Washington so will serendipitously be here for the show about which she knew nothing. chargerfree@mindspring.co m

I'm amazed at pictures, truly amazed. I've been viewing them all day today (Saturday 28th. August)sharing it with the Olympics, now awaiting Kelly Holmes on the track. I did not realize Torquay was such a beautiful place? Your arrangement of pictures is like a 'Tour', well it's a 'Tour-Guide' and Narration is just Perfect. I feel as if I'm there, I feel as if I know the place. What camera did you use? Were you high up taking these the pictures, they seem to be taken from high up. Great Pictures, I love them keep them coming! From Walthamstow, London, Kindest regards, Claude.

Hi Rod!! A fantastically beautiful album. If you are just as proud on them as I like them, you are VERY proud of them. Great shots! And of course thank you for dropping by in my Summer Carnival album in Rotterdam!! It was so much fun! Exciting loud salsa music, great drums, great colours. My Nikon was a bit too slow for my liking when people were dancing and not just standing, so I took my faithfull powershot s30. Afterwards I still did some serious cropping... I am amazed the quality remained still OK.. Surprising is not it? Greetings Anna Oldenhave

I enjoyed looking at your latest photos. I especially like the ones of the west coast since that is my favourite holiday haunt! The few of Boscastle are particularly poignant. I was there in July, just before the floods. I don't think it will ever look the same again. Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Chris, What a fantastic album this is!!! Cornwall and Devon are place where I have never been but thanks to your pictures I can imagine a little bit of how beautiful it is! My favorite picture in this album is "Whitesand Bay,Cornwall". This is what I imagine thinking of the rough coastline of Cornwall.... FANTASTIC!!!! Greetings from a cold and wet Holland. Diana.

Hi Rod and Congratulations on an absolutely beautiful album full of purely breathtaking photos! Each and every one of these photos is a Calendar picture and I think I downloaded nearly everyone as they are just simply stunning! I read a book many years ago called Penmarric set in Cornwall a couple of centuries ago and just loved it, and seeing Penzance and Cornwall is just like home! There has always been something about there that has always drawn me and this album is definitely a great feature and it is just WOW!! AWESOME!! tk you soo much for sharing your beautiful Westcountry of England as it sure is a treasure to behold! "Whitesand Bay Cornwall" is just stunning and soo reminds me of Aussie!! Have a really great Feature day as you sure deserve it....Em from Aussie

Dear Rod, I vote for "Rural Devon" as my absolute favorite in this group. The rolling green is balm for the spirit!I added it to my revolving screen saver. I admit though, 'Whitesand Bay' came a close second- landscapes are always my favorites. One that caught my eye for a few minutes, and surprised me that it did was the 'Brixham Inner Harbor'- what a fabulous picture!- I would title it "Windows&quo t;. Its just great but not my favorite.; ) Llewelyn from Birmingham, Alabama, USA

Rod - to me ALL of your albums are superb as I have an innate love for the west country. But PLEASE have a quick look at my latest album FIRE posted today after 24 very harrowing hours spent in close proximity to a raging wild fire that was deliberately lit. Very scary and far removed from the usual photos I like to take. I would value your opinion. regards Peter in Western Australia

Rod - I've enjoyed my travels through your part of the world. My ancestors came from the Gillingham/Shaftesbury area and I've never been there, so I'm accumulating a list of places to visit. Needless to say, Dorset county and the western England on on that list. I love the timelessness of your tall ships photo; I'd also love to see the shot in colour for comparison. Keep shooting ... Hi again Rod and greetings from down under. As always this album has completely blown me away. Possibly knowing most of the places has something to do with that but I have checked on my pics of the same areas and no way can they compare with yours. Has any of the snow reached down there yet? I would love to see some photos of Devon and Cornwall under a layer of that stuff! I well remember a huge snowstorm many, many years ago while we were living up the hill in Teignmouth.I think it would have been about 1969/70. We couldn't get out for two days and the Exeter Road was completely blocked off. If you get a minute I would like you to have a look at my latest On The Road Again album and see what you think of our state - it is vastly different from that wonderful west country. Best wishes, Peter in Western Australia

Hello again Rod and thanks for looking at my album and your generous comments in my guestbook. Coming from you they are comments that I value highly. I was looking at the photo here of Powderham Castle - am I mistaken or has it been restored in recent years? I seem to remember it was not in a very good state of repair back in the 1960's but I COULD be confusing it with another castle in the same area. Either way it is a super photo and the framing sets it off to perfection. regards, Peter in Western Australia

Love the last photo Rod. That ferry doesn't seem to have changed much in appearance over the years although I dare say the price has gone up somewhat from the twopence that I remember. Hi Rod and this is a wonderful addition and a highly imaginative shot - just what photography is all about. Great work. Harping back to Powderham Castle, could I have been confusing that with Berry Pomeroy? That name suddenly came back to me but I can't for the life of me remember where it is. Hi Rod. Your photos are so clear and a pleasure to look at. I think my favs would be the ones taken around Cornwall but than again, Devon is very nice as well. I love the shot you called "Rural Devon" with the farm house in the vast expanse of green country side. You don't leave us to ask anything because you have captions and comments for every photo. Another top album and I thankyou for sharing it. Best wishes from Australia Al...

Hi Rod, I can understand why you feel so good about the West country as I do about East Anglia, both have there charm, I am aboyt to have 10 days or so down in a farm cottage in Cornwall, Peter (georgieboy) suggested that I should have a look at your Albums I am so pleased that he has, some really exquisite photograhy, I love The eye, We have been to Devon on several occasions but only once to Cornwall many years ago. So you have given us a good insight of what is to come. I shall have a look at all your albums during the course of the next few weeks, in the meantime take care Ken

Hi Rod, i just came round to your albums first time tonight. I need to quit and have a bite but its hard. I keep saying, "just one more." Now I know I will just have to go to Cornwall and west Country. The Admiral Benbow Inn in Pensanze is just as I imagined it when I read, "Kidnapped,& quot; as a young lad. Had no idea it was real or may still exist! I will mark you a favorite.

Hello Rod, on looking through your photographs in this album makes me want to visit the area, I may persuade Doug to take me down there in the not too distant future. You have captured the area well and the ones that stands out for me is the Cott inn and the beautiful sandy bays. Louise

Hi Rod. As per usual I love your photos. I think the one you call "The Eye" is a masterpiece. I could mention all the photos but I won't. I'll give the 1000 year old cathedral an honorable mention. lol. Thanks mate. Cheers Al.

Hi Rod. Love those Looe and Polperro photos and you are so fortunate in having such picturesque places so close to hand. We visited both during our holiday in '97 but it POURED down and we couldn't even make out Looe Island, it was so murky! Do you go down that way very often? You must have added the EYE photo one day when I was looking the other way - that's indeed a magnificent shot. Would that be the north side of Totnes as the Dart heads off to the moors? Cheers now, Peter

Hello Rod! I wish I had commented on this album sooner.Your photos,as in your other albums, are exquisite! You have a wonderful eye for detail and the best angle--I hope to someday be half as skilled .It's not difficult to see why this album was chosen as a feature! P.S. Really rather like the newest inclusion.___Nancy/Canada

Hi Rod. The fishermen's cottages at Cornwall look so just right built right on the water as they are. The rural scene with wild flowers in the forground is great too. Thanks for sharing mate. Best wishes Al..

Love all the additions Rod. Fowey will always be remembered from the time we were having a look around the castle. Betty suddenly went as white as a ghost and said she could hear noises coming from down in the dungeons. I've never seen her move so fast before - just couldn't get away quick enough. LOL Those fields with the poppies in the foreground are just so wonderful and so very ENGLISH. I still subscribe to This England and that is typical of the photos they publish on a regular basis. Beautiful. Glad you liked the jigsaw by the way! Cheers now, Peter

Hi Rod, Oh My am I glad I have found you albums now and this one is just fantasic. I was going to try to get back to you quicker and thank you for your suggestion on another webshot member to look at before we go to Scotland so thank you for that but I was kinda of a busy girl last week with something very exciting for us when we visited a local nature reserve that has wild beavers and then many more trips out too last week. When we go to Scotland we are staying a few days on Mull which I am really looking forward to and then a week at Fort William. As you will see from some of my albums we are walkers who enjoy climbing the mountains but we can't do that everyday so we are looking for places to visit too. Out came my map book to work out how far Aviemore is from Fort William when you said thats where you had stayed recently. What a fantastic place to grow up but where you live now is just as picturesque, just very different. It's an impossible task to choose a favourite from this album but the ones of Looe and Polperro will be high up there and then there is the beutiful poppy fields too It just says summer to me :o) Take care now and I will be back to view more very soon, Jill. PS. Boscastle is where we stayed for our honeymoon 24years ago so thank you for the reminder of that most beutiful place. Such an awful shame about the floods last year :o(

Is it The Atmosphere of Cornwall you have added? If so it is a super-magnificent photo and you have REALLY captured the atmosphere of that old place. We have a Vernon Ward print on our living room wall of almost that same scene but somehow you have managed to get that extra indefinable something into it. Excellent work and I'll be taking that as a screen saver. Best wishes from a cold land down under (cold this morning, anyway!) Peter

Hello Rod, I am a jealous as hell of these wonderful images of your wonderful part of the world, so many little fishing ports to go to, and I concur with what Peter says you have captured the atmosphere brilliantly, I have recently had to content myself with the two magnificent Cathedrals in our region, cant compete with cornish fishing villages, great work Rod. Question do you constantly taake photos out and add new ones, I like to do that just for my ego of thinking I am making it better all the time, then along comes a gb with a fov in that I think is not very good, can't win Good luck mate and some wonderful additions I like the two poppy shots, Ken or Carolynn whichever you prefer

Hello Chris, I just discovered your beautiful nature shots of Cornwall. Absolutely stunning photography, simply letting the light and scenery stand for themselves, creating magnificient images. I love 4 of them especially,Boscastle, the Levant Tin Mine , Whitesand Beach, and Rural Devon. The absolute dreamer is the colours of summer. I will enjoy looking at them on my computerscreen in northern California . Thanks! Marion Stevens

He Rod and many thanks for your entry in my Bells Rapids guest book. Its been a funny winter for rain - the wettest June in 76 years followed by the driest July since 1871 and now August is shaping up to be just about spot on average. As the dams are only at 30% capacity though, with summer round the corner, things could be better, for sure! Webshots seem to have resolved the problems I was having and have found the missing albums - strangely I haven't come across anyone else with the same problem that you have but did notice yesterday that one of my favourites had all their albums duplicated!! With over a million photos posted yesterday alone it is not really surprising that things are starting to get a bit out of hand! Catch you later - am being dragged off out for the weekly shopping trip! Peter

It's always a pleasure to come back to what I have long believed is the finest album in all Webshots. Additions or not I always have to go right back to the start and work my way through! The Fowey shots are wonderful and, as always, you have successfully captured the atmosphere of the place so well. And as for the two Tiverton photos, well they are just superb. That old carthorse would have been a dream to photograph and I have always had a love affair with narrow boats! Marvellous work Rod. All the best Peter

Another great photo to celebrate the first anniversary of this album. I'm looking forward to the day when you actually get to take us on a trip on that narrow boat. I am fascinated by these craft and recently read a couple of books written by a lady who, with her hubby, sold their house and bought a narrow boat in which they spent the next few years blissfully cruising most of England's canals. A great read. If I can find them again I'll joy down the titles and author and send it to you. Cheers for now. Peter
