Hi Vera, This is still a wonderful album, but please answer your own question: Is there a baby in sight? I think I told you that the US National Zoo female (Mei Xiang) is not pregnant and that Tai Shan, her now two-year old cub, is staying at the zoo for at least two more years. Best wishes from Florid, Paul.

BTW: Apropos your newest album on Ferraris--I remember the first time we saw a red Lamborghini here on the streets of Tel-Aviv! I share your love of sleek, modern cars! Hallo Vera. Cannot send you a message (you opened it only for friends) so I take this way to let you know the Bruine Beer is in the Zoo Ouwenhand in Rhenen. We have a Bear bush there and all those Bears are bought from Circus Streets and so on to give those Bears a good last place and rest for the rest of their lives. When you ever come in Holland again let me know. Ria The Netherlands

I see that I am a little late with my comments. Nonetheless, I most enjoyed viewing these fotos of fun, love, and snacking. It is good to see how they provide these pandas with items as close to their environment as possible. The new tree climbing area is an example of that. You have such wonderfulshots. I know I will have to return time and again to take in all of it. viele Grusse, Danke. Ron

Hi, Vera! As always, thanks for your kind words: I really appreciate your interest and concern. Please don't be sad about my profile page--sometimes we make the wrong choices in life. Unfortunately, I left the USA (not of my own volition), but perhaps one day I will return! In the meantime, I always try to fill my life with BEAUTY: for example, am watching ballet now on the Mezzo channel. Do you have access to that TV channel? Moreover, animals provide joy in my life, as well. Thank you for Yang Yang and Long Hui whose photos make me SMILE! Regards, Miriam

Hi Vera, These are certainly adorable picture of adorable bears. My wife and I particularly like your picture of the panda with its tongue sticking out. That is such a great picture and you have so many other great ones too. They all reminded us of our previous visit to the National Zoo. Then Mei Xiang and Tian Tian were still very young and would play almost constantly putting on an absolutely great show. Now they are a little older and are kept apart while their cub is still young. I hope that your Yang Yang was impregnated and that you too will have a cub soon. From what I hear, Tai Shan is particularly large and energetic and the keepers here don’t know if it’s because he is male or because of some other factor. The cubs in San Diego have been female and don’t seem to be as large or as active. So, if you pardon my sexism, I hope you get a male. If you remember my picture of the crowds, you may be able to see that the Giant Panda enclosure is undergoing some remodeling. Currently there are two viewing levels and they both look down into the enclosure. The remodeled enclosure will add some glass panels at ground level which will allow the visitors and the pandas to be separated only by the glass. Well, I better let you go. I can “talk” for hours. Greetings from Florida, Paul. P.S. Thank you for very kind words on my Tai Shan album and I hope to hear of a Vienna cub real soon.

Hello Vera, A Panda collection of rarities-these photos are wonderful. The kids were so close, yet so far. Believe you're right, the bears know there shapes and colors, so do children! Incidentally, I also wanted to thank you for visiting my Featured album and leaving such nice comments within my guest book entries. Hi Vera, I just love your Panda photos and these new ones look very encouraging as to there being a possibility of a young one in the future. Wouldn't that be wonderful? I know the Pandas have a reputation for not always knowing what to do at mating time, and this is one reason there are so few of them. But I think these Pandas have the right idea. And it's good to see that they are interested in each other and love each other so much, which will also increase the chances of a successful outcome. Thank you for sharing these interesting photos in the daily life of one of God's most enjoyable animals. Love from Moine, USA, Carol Jean :)

what size magnification did it take to get these pics, how far away are you in the pics? This appears to be the most "picture friendly" zoo enclosure for pandas I've seen, either that or you have great zoom equipment, which is it? thanks in advance for answering my questions. Jeanie in the USA

do the pandas actually "swing" on the swing, or does it merely move. I'm wondering if they seem to enjoy the movement of the swinging enough to motivate the swing to move (as a child would)? thanks again for sharing such great pics

Vera, thank you for your kind words in my primates album, I can only assume that you live near the zoo, what an honor to see the Pandas...we have them in San Diego, which is about 1000 miles away and in Washington DC which is about 3000 miles away, either way, it's a distance, I've actually seen one in Washington DC, China had given us two, in hopes of mating, but it didn't work out, so eventually, one died or old age, and then the other did. I got a chance to see the last one before it passed on. There was a spell when the zoo didn't think we'd get another, but China decided to give us another chance, and loaned us a couple 2 year olds, the mom gave birth about a year ago, there are nice pics on their website, and a great story, if you're interested the URL is http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GiantPandas/ They are such marvelous animals, and you've really done them justice. By the way, I was wondering, did anyone from the zoo ever come and take those children away, it's scary when that happens, kids don't realize how dangerous animals can be, and if their parents don't keep them away from ALL the animals, one day they get too close to one that CAN get them. There was a teen who thought it funny to stand too close to a Panda enclosure for a photo, he nor his friends knew how fast a panda can travel, it charged, and ended up grabbing the kid's coat. Luckily he got out of it, and the panda had his prize, but it could have been another story. We have idiots who come to Yellowstone park all the time and get the animals in trouble because THEY act so stupid. There was a man from New Jersey (USA) who thought it would be a great photo idea to put his granddaughter on a full grown male bison a few years back, the bison got up and charged, it was only because the man scrambled halfway up a tree that he was saved...but Yellowstone had to destroy the bison. Stupid people! oops, sorry I got a bit upset...thanks again for the pics, they are wonderful...I'm through 3 of your albums, I'm sure I'll collect more from others - Jeanie

Hi Vera, This is an absolutely spectacular album and well deserving of the feature it received back in August. I think it's the best Giant Panda album I've seen and you have improved it with additional pictures. You have managed to capture the bears' singular beauty and their rare playfulness. Thank you for the thrill and thank you for your very kind words yesterday on my Las Vegas album. Greetings from Florida, Paul. P.S. Those tigers and lions are also our favorites and the highlights of our visit there. By the way, I agree, it is very rare to capture the sparkle in a Panda’s eyes for the reasons you listed.

Ich zog vor 15 Jahren als ich meinen Norbert heiratete nach Salzburg und wir wohnten 14 Jahre in Wals (in der Naehe d. Flughafen Salzburg). Hello Vera, Nicely done and great pictures, a rareity it seems like anymore, about the only time one gets to see these huge bears is in a zoo. Your descriptions throughout are nicely done. Thank you for the tour. Greetings from the South Coast of Oregon. Ron

Hi Vera, What an outstanding collection of photographs! Pandas in general, and Giant Pandas in particular, are a rare blend of beauty, charm and playfulness. You have captured it all. Congratulations on your featured album. It's extremely rare to see three featured albums on the same day with as much great photography as we have today. We are planning a trip for this fall to our own National Zoo which about three weeks ago had a birth of a Giant Panda cub. If I do half as well with them as you did here, I will be very grateful. Congratulations again and Greetings from Florida, Paul.

Hello. I DO love this album. Thanks for showing us a few minutes of the lives of these wonderful animals..wouldn't it be geat to be watching thes same animals in the wild?!? To bad that we humans have to be so thoughtless and destroy so much of this world for our own whims and wants! Congratulations on an excellent feature. Bob-New York State, USA
