• Hello Steve and greetings from the land down under. I don't think I have ever thanked you for making me a favourite so I'll do so now. I've had a great time going through this album of waterfalls and you have some really great shots. I am particularly impressed by the fact that you haven't "frozen" the water which is a mistake a lot of people make. I wish we had some decent falls out here. Those we do have are dried up for a large part of the year and the better ones are a day's drive away. I shall work my way through your other albums as the next few weeks go by - we are half way through autumn almost with considerably cooler days that enable us to get caught up with the backlog of work in the garden. So after that is all done I can sit back with a clear conscience! All best wishes, Peter

 • Hi Steve! Thanks for your comments. I'm new to Webshots but find the pictures relaxing and the people I've met so far very friendly and encouraging. Once I read your comment, I visited your site and even downloaded two shots to my screensaver. We went to Fall Creek Falls about a year ago on a three day getaway and really enjoyed Tennessee. Thanks again for your kind comments. I've added you to my favorites. Terrydactle (Tom) from Birmingham, AL

 • Hi Steve, Thanks for your very kind words on my Flowers and Utah albums. All the flowers were all captured during overcast days many many years ago on 35mm slide film (Kodachrome) using two manual Nikon cameras and a Vivitar Series 1 90mm macro lens. At that time I falsely thought that I could make a living selling my pictures and used a background (cardboard covered with a black craft paper) which my then girlfriend now wife held behind the subject flower. The black background was used to color-balance, intensify the color saturation, isolate the flower from its background and facilitate the insertion of advertising or other text into the picture. As to our Utah trip – we spent almost four weeks touring so we had plenty of time to take hikes ranging from easy to strenuous and taking pictures only in the early morning or late afternoon when the colors were at their most intense. At other times, we either rested or scouted locations for later shooting. I used a compass to determine if the lighting would be more suitable during the afternoon or morning. It’s a lot of work and it takes time, but it can pay off. Greetings from Florida, Paul.

 • Steve, Thanks for the kind guestbook comment. Obviously I love waterfalls and had to check yours out. There are a bunch here I have yet to visit. Isn't Fall Creek Falls great! I was amazed by how much less water there was in your shots then when I visited them last year.

 • Hi Steve, I love waterfalls and you have a great and growing collection here. I particularly like your DeSoto Falls and Cane Creek Falls. In the past I have found it fairly difficult to use a slow enough shutter to get that soft blurred look of moving water, but now I have a new neutral density filter which I think will do the trick. Unfortunately we don’t have any waterfalls of any significance here in Florida and this year’s scheduled vacation won’t offer many opportunities in that area either. Greetings from Florida, Paul. P.S. Thank you for your very generous words on my Everglades album. I just take a lot of pictures and only keep those where I have gotten lucky. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get back to you sooner, but my PC crashed and I’ve been out of touch for about a week. To answer your question: In those trips I only used my 70-300mm zoom. The “Close ups” are a combination of things. My D70 camera has a 1.5 factor which makes the 70-300 zoom a 105-450 in 35mm format equivalence. This yields about a 9x magnification. I also shot mainly large birds which yield large images and in the Everglades the birds usually let one get fairly close before bolting.

 • Great shots of the falls in TN and AL. I lived in Milan, TN (just north of Jackson) for 13 years and never visited ANY of the falls you have captured so well. How could I have missed them? Again, great shots. Thanks for sharing. Bill, Texas.

 • Hi Steve, Thanks for your kind words on my California Trip album. I can't encourage you enough to explore this loop. We did it without rushing in three weeks. A few hints: Reservations at Yosemite (By far the best of all) book up early - sometimes a year in advance. You can check what's available and when via the Internet. The flowers and the waterfalls are at their best in early spring, but the mountain roads (Tioga and Glacier Point) might be closed due to the lingering snow. After school lets out for the summer, the park is overrun with people, the flowers dwindle and the amount of water over the falls decreases considerably. Some of them dry up. If you have other questions, please e-mail me at paulfernandez@att.net. Greetings from Florida, Paul.

 • Hi Steve! Beautiful album! These waterfalls are just spectacular. You have done a great job in photographing them. I certainly hope you didn't hurt yourself when you fell from that ladder! I enjoyed the whole album, although Webshots makes that difficult! Thanks for your kind comments in my guestbook, they are truly appreciated! Take care...Darlene

 • Hi Steve, I love waterfalls and you have some beautiful ones here. I particularly like the one in DeSoto State Park. It's got a nice straight drop into a beautiful pool. It makes for great photography. Greetings from Florida, Paul. P.S. Thanks for your recent kind words on my Utah album.

 • Hi Steve, thanks for visiting and your kind comment, I am at the stage that I have to rob Peter to pay Paul with Webshots. I will have to delete some of my albums to add more Yellowstone and because you asked I will do it. It sounds like you like Yellowstone as much or more than I do. I bought myself a Nikon D70 with a 17 – 70 mm lens and a 70 – 300 mm leans. I also bought a 2X Tele converter to help with the long shots. I’m not very good at using the Tele converter, but I found that if you want good pictures with it you should use a tripod. Sandy “Islandlady” a very fine photographer advised me not to purchase the 2X Tele converter because focusing problems. I have realized these problems. She advised me to get a 1.4 or 1.7 Tele converter to keep my pictures sharp, when it came time to purchase the camera I was just thinking and I need a doubler and I got the 2X. This is probably more that you wanted to know. I put more pictures on

 • Hi Steve I wanted to thank you for visiting and the kind comments about the San Rafael area pictures. It’s a beautiful area and my pictures dont do it justice. Enough about my stuff I enjoy coming and see your pictures too and this is a wonderful album. Im going up to Yellowstone again for the next few weeks and I hope to have more pictures (lets face it I will have more pictures I just hope they are good pictures) LOL. The sad thing is Ill have to delete my old Yellowstone pictures to do that. Take care and keep shooting those pictures. Norm PS It a true honor to be on your favorite member list

 • Hi Steve, you have done a wonderful job putting these pictures together. I get excited about nature/landscapes. Thanks for visiting my Yellowstone album and your kind comments about it. If you ever go back and want to see bears its best to go to the Northeast area of the park, you should see Bear, Wolfs, Elk, Coyotes, Big Horned Sheet, Bald Eagles and Bison there. Take care Norm/Utah PS Its an honor to be the first to comment. You have made a great start
