  • Your albums on Scotland and The West Country are very good, varied and with excellent composition. What a beautiful Country we have Rod, looking through your albums reminds me of places I have visited. The countryside and wildlife are amongst my favourite subjects and you have covered them so well. So pleased you enjoyed my Arran Albums it is a place I never tire of and will be there again later this month. Can't Wait. My very best wishes./Elaine.

  • Rod, just having a wee browse through your album again, Dartmoor Stream is excellent so full of colour with the heather, water and rocks, just like a postcard. We are battling up here against the dull dreich weather so we don't have many additions to our albums. All the best for 2003 Louise & Doug

  • Dear Rod, I can't believe I have never signed this GB before. I can now appreciate too just how long you have been taking and sharing your pictures Lots of places to recognise here and I think my favourite has to be Rannoch moor somewhere that fascinated me when we drove that way and I would love to stop there one day. Thank you for your GB today If we had gone home without having had a go at reaching the summit of Ben nevis I would have felt something was missing from our holiday. I only started putting my pictures onto webshots so I could share them with friends from an online Fellwalking club I belong to, thats why there are so many lake district walks. The fact that other people have found my pictures and enjoy them too always amazes and delights me.I have made so many friends this way and thats the biggest pleasure. The path up Ben Nevis is not a difficult one at all its nicely graded but it does get rough above 3000 ft I can honestly say the summit of Scaffell Pike is much harder going as are a lot of other paths in the Lake District. I was suprisingly Ok the following day just a bit stiff in the legs but ok as long as you kept going I would recommend for anyone to have a go but treat the mountain with respect and know how to navigate themselves of a misty summit. I'm sure most that reach the summit just play follow my leader to get down again, completely unaware of the sheer cliff face and gullies that are the danger just a few feet from the summit cairn :-/ Hope you have a good weekend now Take care Jill

  • Good day Rod. Thanks for the comment on my featured album yesterday. I enjoy looking at all these UK pictures. I doubt that I will ever see them in person so it is great to be able to visit this way. If I did go, I would not know where to start taking pictures and I never know when to stop taking them anywhere so I would need a cubic fortnight of space to carry enough 1GB memory cards for the trip! • Hi Rod. My very, very belated congratulations on this fantastic feature. Three years ago I hadn't even heard of Webshots! Great scenic shots as always, making Britain look GREAT. I noted the photo of Urquhart Castle. Hubby was up in Scotland a couple of weeks ago and took some pics, one of which was of this castle. You will find it in my 'fun with colour' album. When you have time, take a peek and let me know what you think. Thanks for visiting and taking the time to leave comments. Nice to hear from you. How's your weather? We've had our first lot of snow. It lasted three days, but thankfully it's all melted now. Take care. Jayne/West Midlands :) xx

  • Hi Rod! This scenery is such a contrast from our Australian scenery so makes pleasant viewing. Love the Cockington scenes, the Cairngorms, Anstey's Cove, all very beautifully photographed. Thankyou for your lovely message in my guestbook from my 4-day tour of the Goldfields, I kept the camera very busy! Wishing you a Happy New Year filled with wonderful photos.. • Hi Rod. Many thanks for your patience in waiting for the photos to arrive in the yet another Local Beach album and for your more than generous comments. In the end I loaded them back in myself rather than wait for support. What do you think of the neutral density filter that I used for the last few photos? It is interesting to compare it with the ordinary skylight filter that is permanently on the camera. I tend to think it adds a bit of warmth. There is another ND filter with a higher rating but I think I'll stick with this one. I was going to get a polarising filter but don't think there's any need now. What do you use? Well it looks as though WS has finally sorted itself out and things are gradually getting back to normal - even got some updated stats today but I don't think they include everything from the last two weeks. Now we sit back and await whatever else they are going to spring on us! Best wishes, Peter

We were dead lucky in that we had four days of unbroken sunshine which is unusual in those parts - it certainly is a big help in showing off the colours of the ocean to perfection. I have been reading a series of books by Diana Gabaldon about Scotland and the battle at Culladen and seeing these photos just makes the books even better.
