    • well dusty , without doing any research.I have always know it as the hanging tree.Apparently in the 1800s it was used for public executions.the tree was alive till about 20 years ago when it started dying out . i will check out a more detailed history and update .dewey

    • Please share with me what you know about this tree. My husband of 30 years and I had many picnics under this tree while dating and always refere to it as "The Tree". This site has always been special to us but we never knew any history. Every time we have visited RI from the West Coast a visit to "The Tree" has been on the agenda. WOW! ptjude1976@yahoo.com
