Hello Chris, Devon is an area which I intend to visit next year. So with extra interest I viewed this album. And I am very much impressed by the beauty of the Dartmoor National Park. Thanks to your excellent photography the tour through the album was a delight! I am glad I found this brilliant album! Greetz, Tjebbe

I absolutely love Dartmoor, we went for a drive to Dawlish just after Christmas, then drove through Dartmoor in the fog. It was sooooo eerie. My fav place is Cherrybrook, I juat love it there. Thank you for sharing these great pics. Warm wishes Lyn

Dear Rod, First of all I have to thank you for all you really very kind GB entries I didn't think anyone would find the walk up Dow Crag on my old account I should have known better. I also can't believe you found that picture I posted this morning so quickly it was a matter of minutes it had been online LOL I do hope you get your walking boots on if only to do some low level walks The Lakes has some great walks to suit everyone and trust me if I can get up some of those slopes I'm sure anyone can. We are not fast walkers by any means prefering to enjoy being in the places we get to and make the most of the time spent there. I have many more pictures to post as you can imagine including some wonderful walks to much higher places :o) Now I'm gonna go look at this wonderful album as I know you've been adding to it recently :o) Thanks once again and Take care now, Jill

Gee, your pics were so wonderful again, such great views of the beautiful countryside. If you are getting tired of this heat you will find some cooler pics in my other account, some winter views;-) http://community.webshots.com/user/lovejoy484 Thank you for the best pics I saw today, and for visiting my cherry tree album. Hello Rod. I was delighted to read all your messages and guest book entry re my Winter on the West Aussie Coast album. I ended up buying a Sony DSC R-1 - a prosumer camera with Carl Zeiss lens (24 to 120) and a CMOS sensor. Very heavy but it sits easily in the hand and - best of all - controls etc. are both get-at-able and easy to fathom out. So far I have only used Auto for everything while I get the feel of it but I stuck a 4xNeutral Density filter on the front to combat the extreme glare at the beach. Although it goes up to 10.3 mps I shot those pics at 7mp and will either stick with that or even go to 5 if I can't see any noticeable difference. First impressions are that it's a great camera but I want to try it in a few different situations, plus get used to the manual settings etc. It does shoot RAW but I doubt I shall ever use that. Do you use RAW at all? Seems to me to be a lot of hard follow up work that is more suited for graphic artists etc.

Bonjour Rod,everytime i go trough your albums i discover something new and interesting.I began browsing trough this great album searching for your new additions but soon got lost in that beautiful English Countryside, thanks once again for this peaceful "walk".Great shots as always my Friend, love the horses! Thanks for your kind words, have a great week-end!Luc
said kligon
Hi Rod! The horses really belong to the countryside there. Looking again at this pictures there's something I did not see the other times: some pictures are a bit violet. Is that because the time of the day/sun or did you use a filter? Picture nr. 11, 12, 14, 21, 22 . And ofcourse thanks for writing in my Keukehof. Groeten, Mieke
said miekesphotos2
Hi Rod! Another album that I enjoyed looking at. So what else is new? I like all of your albums. In here I love the scenery, the water and the horses. Thanks for sharing Rod. Cheers Al

Hi Rod! Great album with wonderful scenes and a magical sunset, but I really enjoyed seeing the Dartmore Ponies, although I also felt sorry for them when they were cold and wet. Hopefully they are enjoying nice Spring weather now. Loved those colourful flowers in nature's garden. Thanks for sharing and Best wishes.. Gladys, Western Australia.

Hi Rod, this new tool of moving pics around is going to help in the quest to update photo's, can easily take one out now to replace it with out upseting the balence of the album. I love these types of album as you well know and never tire of looking at them, look forward to more updates as the summer comes upon us, take care and the usual kind regards Ken

There are so many places in this album that I have visited and I'm just dying to get back to them. Its great being able to see them in your lovely albums though. I see there are more additons to other albums but my bath is about to run over so I will be back very soon. Take care Rod. Chesca #####

Hello Rod, I hope you're getting this lovely weather in your part of the country - it's a beautiful day in Cumbria today! Thank you for visiting my Country Garden album and for your kind message - it certainly is a lovely garden and well worth a visit. (The real thing, of course... not my album!) I enjoyed Dartmoor, thank you. Your photographs are so interesting and such a delight. I have never seen the area, so love visiting it in your photos. Wishing you a sunny day! Mandy (UK)

Hi Rod! What a great tour of Dartmoor! I have downloaded #45, & am especially fond of nos. 46 thru' 49! They could be shots around MY neck of the woods!Beautiful! And, I must confess to being rather keen on the photos of the ponies. Try not to be too sorry for them , though. They have adapted to the cold & wet quite well, or there wouldn't BE any!Anyway, wonderful pictures. All the best---Nancy
said greyhairs1
Hi Rod, You do favor a great tour of the countryside, declaring descriptions of all your photos makes it more enhancing throughout. The Ponies are a short breed, but tough-looking. I have to pity those that stay through the winter months in the cold, the wet and the icy occasions. Dartmoor is huge, had no idea. Thank your for your time involved in the making of this 'film'!! Best regards. Ron/Oregon Coast
said rboise
Hi Rod, I see you have been on the wander around your beloved South West, Some excellemt winter shots of the ponies, I only see them in the summer it is a long way to go in the winter for us. I have taken a leaf out of your book of replacing photo's in old albums, I have completely redone two albums one of which is the lead for my MOTW, I was a little taken back there are far more people more deserving than me. however thanks for your kind words and for the idea of refurbishing albums, I am this summer looking to do more of them if it means tramping the same places as last year lol, great album as is all of yours take care my friend and happy hunting regards Ken
said hircock100
Hi Rod! The Dartmoor ponys are gorgeous, especially the little foal (with such long legs), but it is a sure sign that Spring has come your way. Lovely shot of the old Cathedral and huge old tree too. Thankyou for sharing this lovely album and for your kind message in my g/b.. Gladys, Western Australia.
said gladysclancy2
Me again, Rod, and the Darmoor ponys are so beautiful. The newest shot, taken in March is so very good - right up close. Are they friendly - I mean do they let you pet them? You show that "hairy winter coat" that I knew nothing about, but it makes sense. S/he is a beauty!!! ... Judy

Hello Rod, first off, thanks for your kind comments of my feature. Interesting day yesterday! This album caught my eye, truely, delighted me because I had such a fantastic trip to dartmoor and cornwall when I graduated highschool in Germany. We tripped and camped the scenery is awesome, I rembember the wild ponies (Exeter) I believe. When things calm down I plan to stop by for more looks. Cheers, from Houston, Marita

Hi Rod, Sorry its taken so long to pop back. It seems to be on a go slow for me since they shut the site down the other day. May I congratulate you on this lovely album. I have been to Dartmoor loads of times but not since getting a digital camera so that will have to be one of my aims. Thank you for your kind remarks in my Landscapes GB. You will have to visit Yorkshire as it has some magnificent scenery that I know you will do justice to. The only place I know im going this year is the Lake District which is one of my favourites places.I have taken a huge amount of pictures from previous visits but this will be the first time with a digital camera and I can't wait. I hoping for some sun and maybe a sprinkling of snow whilst there in March. You take care and I will pop by soon. Chesca

Hi Rod! It is a pleasure to re-visit to see these beautiful Dartmore Ponies again in the greenery of the English Countryside. A great album! Sincere wishes for a Happy New Year filled with lots of fantastic photos... Gladys, Western Australia.

This is fast becoming my "Thank you" album - the one I automatically come to when writing to thank you for your usual generous comments in my guest books. This time it was the Forest Scenes album and you would instantly have realised that most of those photos were scans from VERY old slides. I think I shall have to spend some time with Photoshop trying to find a way of improving slide scans - there must BE a way. I mean, that last photo in that album - the car in the tree - I only put it in to try to convey some sense of scale and I worked for over half an hour on that photo so it'll give you some idea of what the original was like! LOL. All suggestions will be gratefully received (short of trashing the slide altogether!)Thanks once again - catch you next time! All best wishes, Peter

One of the joys of Webshots is I don't have to worry about bookmarking my favourite stuff - I just click on your name and bingo, up comes Dartmoor Delights, an album I NEVER tire of. Beautiful! But today I have also come here to say a big thank you for your entry in my Spring Flowers GB. There's something about flowers that makes you keep wanting to photograph them year after year isn't there, even though you know they aren't going to look any different than last year. As your weather starts to close in, making your photo sessions fewer and further between, ours is starting to look up and we can start making plans for day trips, although with the price of petrol now we do have to sometimes think twice about the more distant places. Thanks again Rod and cheers for now, Peter
said georgieboy98
Hi Rod, Thank you for your GB entry but when I read it I wondered what sunny pictures in the end :-/ A closer look revealed that I had uploaded some pictures into the album which should be in the next one LOL Call it operator error or a senior moment. Webshots is driving me batty again as when I have tried to move pictures in the next album they will not, they say they are not there, so I have loaded them again in the hope they will recognise the pictures this time... OK moan over. I have a friend who walks the Munro's most weekends and she visited the same valley a couple of weeks after us and after she had got over the same bridge learnt of someone that had fallen in the river and been washed downstream. The river really was very quiet when we were there but it certainly made me think. As for the midges they don't bite me thankfully they all go for Nigel instead but its horrid to feel them crawl all over you only to get stuck on the repellant you have plastered all over yourself. Now you have had an unexpected look at the following days piccies you can see that the sun does indeed shine for us when we visit the lovely valley of Glen Etive. Take care now Jill

Hello, Rod! I just love these pictures. The bridges are so beautiful, the countryside so picturesque! What a great job you do in presenting it all! -Warm regards, -claudia

Hi Rod! You have so many beautiful albums and I enjoy getting to visit places with your albums that I will never get to see in person. Thanks for the guestbook message. Yes, I am hearing from many users that their download totals have been stuck at zero for quite a while and the same is true with me. I'm hoping that eventually everything will get straightened out. Hi Rod! Those old stone bridges make wonderful photographic subjects and you really do them justice. Love those Dartmore Ponies, just so cute! But the biggest surprise to me was #3 & #11 of Hound Tor, they almost look as though they were taken in Australia with such Blue Skies and Golden Rocks!! I have not seen England look like that before.. Thanks for sharing and I hope you are enjoying my Australian views.. Gladys, Western Australia.
said gladysclancy2
Hi Rod. Like your other albums that I've looked at this one is spot on too. I like everything about it. The bridges, the old buildings such as houses, churches and towers. The green fields and the ponies by the river and of course your captions and comments. Thanks again for sharing mate. Cheers Al.

Hi Rod. I have just spent a delightful half hour on Dartmoor and boy, did the memories come flooding back because for four years in the 1960's I was a sales rep and used to call on several of those villages every two weeks. Places such as Ilsington, Meavy, Ponsworthy (there used to be a shop in that terrace of cottages you have photographed - wonder if it's still there?) Ponsworthy was also the place I used to lower the tyre pressures during the snowy season prior to tackling the road on to Widecombe. Also had a call in the village of Haytor, as well as Badgers Holt, which was a weekly call during summer. Postbridge! WOW! I have photo of my Dad taken by my Mum on that old bridge and also one of me when I was still in short pants!! Wonderful photos Rod and an absolute joy to browse this album. Must also thank you for your very generous comments in my Fabulous Beaches album but with scenery like that it would be hard to take bad photos!! All best wishes from down under my friend, Peter in Western Australia

Thank you for visiting my album. I'm sorry, these days I saw that. Your albums are wonderful. I'm a croat who lives and work in Damascus for two years. One (before a year ago) I decided to put my photos on internet (everything what's around me every day and my rarely trips through Syria, cause I used to stay in Damascus) and after your visit and over 9000 visitors I was surprised my photos are great. Now I have 4 albums more! Best regards, Damir.

Rod, the additions are wonderful! Those poor ponies! They must be very hardy to be so wet and cold for so long and endure into spring. Imagine how good the warm weather feels to them!!! I think Dartmoor Pony (Cold and Wet) is my favorite. There is something in the color that is very descriptive of the situation. Very wild, damp, and chilly. You are an excellent photographer!!! Thanks so much for sharing with us and going out in the cold to take these wonderful shots. :-) Jane
