  • Your album is so pretty with all the gorgeous trees. Oh how I wish we could grow the palms up here in Michigan. Can't be done, of course, so we just have to admire the lovely trees of Florida. - Best regards, DeeAnne :)

  • My belief is that more and more folks are moving inland from the coasts and south Florida and want similar palms (coconuts, royals, foxtails, etc.) that they had there. Requests to local nurseries for these palms must be on the rise as just 2-3 years ago you couldn't get royal and coconuts, etc., around here. I think the nurseries are trying to accomodate the exploding population. And in my opinion, the prices they are charging are exorbitant compared to what these palms sell for in south Florida. Further, the last two winters have been relatively mild and folks are becoming bolder in what they plant. Naturally, the more homes and concrete that go in should contribute to the heat island effect.

  • I noticed that you mentioned that Royal Palms are being sold due to the population growth. Can you expand on that statement? Do you mean that there's more possibility of heat-island effects? I've noticed Royals being sold in my area, Winter Haven, as well.
