Love all these photos in your album, but the ones that stand out to me, are Just Ducky, Mutual Curiosity, Americana and American Roots. My apologies, but some of the pigs look as if they are living in very crowded condition except for the first picture. Also in the 4th picture the pig is in darkness and gives the impession of being in one of these infernal farrowing crates. I had the impression that the pictures had come from different farms. The 1st picture of the pig in a sty was obviously from a traditional farm, and the animal was able to engage in normal behaviour and seemed quite happy. I still cannot understand why the other pigs are so cramped, if they are not on some dreadful factory farm. The pig in the 4th picture has a definite welfare issue with wood which should be planed down or it could easily cause sores, if the pig rubs against it - something it is difficult to avoid in the cramped conditions found on factory farms. Darkness is a frequent feature of these hellish establishments. I love animals very much and it pains me greatly to see them suffer in any way. The conditions in which the majority of pigs are kept in this country are hell on earth. I have lost all desire to eat pork or ham as a result of it. I cannot understand how people can just view animals as units of production, instead of intelligent, sentient beings. They deserve a decent life and a humane death and in the majority of instances they are not getting either. Chickens, turkeys are ducks are treated even worse and slaughterhouses in this country are now beginning to follow the horrendous practices of those in the United States with line speeds so fast that the animals are often improperly stunned and are not allowed sufficient time to die, so that many are still fully conscious, when the work of skinning and dismembering them begins. Birds often suffer a worse fate, as the mechanisation is woefully inefficient and an increasing number enter the defeathering tanks alive and are literarily boiled to death. I will not eat any meat at all now, unless it is free range. Again, my apoligies, but some of the pictures are wonderful, while others appear pretty damming.

You know, the three pigs is a wonderful photo also. I think it is hard for a photo to really bring the subtle expressions of a pig and you caught all three with very interesting expressions.
