  • Hello Angela, I absolutely love this insect and butterfly album, It really inspires me, This last summer I have had a lot of fun in the fields around my home, and am already getting ready for next year. I have left enough hints for an insect book I saw in WH Smiths for xmas, so in the winter it will be trying to identify all the little strangers I have already got, my wife Carolynn just says go and buy it, but it will be better than some of the presents I usualy get. Never knew or heard about a humming bird moth, fabulous capture. People think I am barmy wandering around looking stupid but I actualy get an aweful lot of contentment and I do believe a bit more patience. I'm rambling so I had better go, take care and keep finding these aweful female spiders, who like to eat us friendly males take care now Ken

  • I never think to photograph insects and would probably have run a mile from that unknown spider because out here something like that would certainly be very venomous. And how come you just happened to have your camera handy when that insect landed on your paper? Fortunate indeed that you did. NOW can I go back to sorting my own photos please????? hehehe Love and hugs, Peter

  • Hello Angela, thanks for the Gb and info on the blue butterfly, they are so confusing, as they are so small. The hills and holes, whilst there i got another blue butterfly but as yet am having difficulty trying to identify it, saw several Speckled Woods and there are marbled Whites there altough I did not see one might be the wrong time of the year. I have looked at that website along with several others they all help but these blue ones baffle me. the millstone is good again altough our meal was a bit dissappointing last week. Where ever di you find the crickets mating thats a superb shot, in the field just out the back from me is swarming with them but as yet I have not caught them in the act. well keep on snapping and by the way I think that your spiders are of the Mash Web family, I got a picture yesterday of one cocooning a fly, and posted it in Gods Beautiful Creatures if you want a peek. I love them sort of shots, tanks agin for the info, take care Ken

  • Hi again Angela,I have just had a long look at your wonderful album again, and had I have done so an hour or so earlier, it would have saved me a lot of time trying to identify a Female common Blue and a Female Common Darter, thanks again, in future I will just look at your albums they are bound to be there lol, Ken

  • Hi Angela, it is so good to hear from you, Webshots has been playing a few tricks on us all just lately, still we are all in the same boat, Where are all the butterfly's this year, I have been out hunting them day after day and usualy when I do get a chance the wind is blowing whatever they have landed on about so much I have trouble getting focused. Thanks for naming that moth for me, and all the other Gb's, I am a bit pushed for time right now but will look some more in the morning, take care Ken

  • Hello Angela, Like Peter been wondering where you have been, I to have been butterfly hunting, but by the time I get enough it will be summers end, I have a picture similar to your. #53 and think that it is a Meadow Brown. You have some good shots of these we beasties, very clear. that is what I am trying to do, but it takes a long time and a lot of infuriating sometimes patience, nice to hear from you again, and if you have a little squint at my rose album the is a little surprise for you, Ken

  • Aha! So THIS is what you've been doing for the last few weeks eh? Foraging for insects! And then foraging for their names! My compliments on your patience, to say nothing of your abilities with your camera which are nothing short of incredible. An extremely interesting album Angie and my knowledge of English insects has improved by leaps and bounds this last few weeks! Nice work, Hugs, Peter. PS I bet you don't take Bailey on these jaunts!

  • Hi Angela, Wow you have been busy and isn't it fun chasing these little beasties about waiting for them to settle, you certainly have got a huge selection here too. I was looking forward to this album when you told me you were doing it :o) I have come to the conclsion taking the pictures is the easy bit, but trying to name them all is the real challenge. I'll have to e-mail you a site I found that helped me with some beetles recently. I'm still looking forward to other pictures I know you must have too ;o) Take care now Jill. PS I'm not going to say anything about being first ;o)
