The making of.... A small album telling the story of a little spider who started repairing its web(Featured June 9, 2006)

Album Description:

I watched with my camera, and was fascinated to see how the little spider worked his way around. Sometimes he was like a trapeze artist balancing on its purred threads, many times he was faster than me, and lots of photos went to the trashcan.

  • Hello Els, my very late CONGRATULATIONS on this one being featured. A wonderful choice! I like this album very much because of it's excellent close-ups and your wonderful captions which made those pictures alive. How are you. I hope your parent could get in time in their new home and are now much happier. Those adventures need a lot of strength even when everything is functioning perfectly. Have a wonderful weekend! • Wow, what a beautiful series of photos of this little spider and its web. We have lots of spiders in our garden, but it's hard to get good pictures of them. I like spiders and am always amazed when I see them spinning webs :-) I have an album with daddy-long-legs spiders and their eggs and babies, have a look if you're interested. Cheers, KT :-)

  • Congratulations on your featured album. I am not a spider person at all. In fact, when I see them, I walk the other way or have my husband get rid of them. To many wolf spiders jumping on me as a child in the outhouse! This is a great album and I did enjoy watching this little guy, which by the way, I know is not very little. We have them here in Oregon. Have a great day. Best wishes from Oregon, Lynn

• Hi Els, 'The Making Of...' is a great album. The pictures are very good and the story that you added to them makes it really special. I find it very interesting to watch spoders at work but so far failed in picturing them doing their work. That's why I can appreciate your pictures. If you have some spare time you're invited to take a look at the new albums that I released yesterday. Take care, Yair.

This is a wonderful album for children to see. I will be showing it to my grandchildren. Thank you so much for having the patience and taking the time to make it. Sandie/Canada

  • Hi Els, the spider is a Mash Web spider, and you are right the are absolutely facinating to watch. this record of one making his or her web is really a wonderful piece of photography, I have recently watched a spider of this species, wrap up a fly and devour a small butterfly caught up in the web. In the case of the fly By the time I went indoors to get my tripod, it had got the fly fully encased in thread. I managed to get pictures of both events but not the wonderful record like yours. PS the pics are in "Gods Beatiful creatures" best regards Ken

  • Hallo Els! Schitterende reportage.

A spiderweb is such an intricate work of art really and you captured the making of it so very well with your great photos. Well done especially for your patience. I bet this spider had no idea how famous he would become, lol! Thank you for your kind words about my Rainbow album. I was posting photos when you looked. Hope you can view my colour pencils' shot now. Have a lovely weekend. Luv n'hugs, Jayne/West Midlands, UK :) xx
