In 1958, more than 1000 covered bridge were listed in the province of Quebec, Canada. Now in 2011 only 86 are still existing. Photos des ponts couvert du Quebec et Nouveau Brunswick.

Hello Michel, that's quite the collection you have, and enjoyed viewing them. It's so unfortunate that they are disappearing; quite likely from apathy to restoring the decaying ones. Being in your neighbouring province of Ontario, the only one I know of, close enough to drive to is near Kitchener, a couple of hours drive from Hamilton. Perhaps when Spring is settled in, I may head out there as it's been a few years. I was still shooting slides my last time there. As I close, thanks for visiting my Winter album, and the compliment. These covered bridges bring back many memories. I grew up in St. Martins, Saint John County, N.B. It is on the Bay of Fundy and one of the few places in the world where you can stand in one place and see 2 covered bridges at the same time. Thanks for visiting my Prince Edward Island album. Gordon

Bonjour Michel: excellents compléments - et c'est bon de remuer un peu "le monde"! On ne peut qu'être outré qu'en un demi-siècle, plus de 90% des ponts couverts aient éte éliminés! Si dans quelques cas, la conjonction traffic élevé et configuration du terrain n'ont pas laissé le choix, dans la plupart des autres des déviations auraient fait l'affaire, non? Thanks for your comments Michel! ~ Your bridges are wonderful! Yes I hope all the remaining bridges are saved. There are appoximately 36 covered bridges left in Parke county, Indiana and sadly every now and then vandals burn another down or the bridge has not been been closed and farmers who can not get their farm equipment through them take matters into their hands. Michel, I viewed this album before and have enjoyed it a second time with your additions. It is wondefully done and you are a very good photographer. I really like covered bridges and lighthouses. I have never seen a mill. You are so lucky to be so close to that many covered bridges. We have only one in this area. Thank you so much for your comments in my covered bridges album. Bonjour Michel,je reviens souvent à cet album pour voir si tu n'as pas ajouté de nouveaux ponts dont j'ignore l'existence,mais je t'avoue que cette fois-ci ce sont plus tes phares qui m'intéresses (eh bien oui une autre piqûre!)J'aimerais bien aller voir par moi-même dans les provinces maritimes où je peux remarquer qu'il y en a des superbes et que grace à toi j'ai pu découvrir;peut-être d'ici une couple d'années...Dans un autre ordre d'idée pour répondre à ta question ce sont tous des photos provenant du jardin botanique sauf une,mais encore une fois j'ai tendance à aimer plus les jardins de la région de Québec,plus petits mais beaucoup mieux entretenus si je peux m'exprimer ainsi.Quant aux Featured,j'espére que n'as pas pris ça sérieusement ce que je t'ai écrit sur la question d'habitude,c'était avec humour,de toute façon il n'y a rien de sérieux là,bien que ce soit une expérience agréable je pense bien que tout le monde a figuré que leurs choix est totalement du au hasard et finalement je suis entièrement d'accord avec toi que nos conseurs devrait bien avoir leurs "24 heures de gloire!" Oh Michel, those covered bridges are super. We don't have many in my area of Ohio, and what we do have, have been transported to safe hisortic areas, so to get a great natural pic is hard to find. They are one of my favorites. Maybe someday I'll have some to add to my picture collections. Thanks for your comments on my albums and for sharing your beautiful work with all of us around the world.

Le coût d'entrée est de $5.00 par personne et vous pouvez avoir déjà une très bonne idée des effets, simplement à partir de la route. Very nice album. I am glad you are preserving the bridges and other points of interest with your camera. Someone in the 1960s decided that everything should be torn down and build new. It is not always the best thing. These bridges and lighthouses and windmills are wonderful photos. Thank you for caring and for sharing them. Thanks for signing my guestbook. Your albums are all very nice. Isn't it a shame that all the bridges are almost gone. The road to Waldo bridge was torn down to keep people off the bridge. I guess it isn't even safe to walk on any more. There is so much history in these old bridges, it's a shame to see them disappear. This Waldo bridge was used in the Civil War. Sad to see it hasn't been restored. bowlingranny/cacklinhen
