Relating to the comment of afrianflower below: Is it true that these magnificent animals are confined to cages, although they live on a 160-acre estate? Most of these animals look so sad (or perhaps just tired and bored). Do they have a chance to leave their cages and exercise out in the open? Look how cramped Garth the Bear seems (photo #14; also #16). Please reassure all of us that this is NOT the case! From a genuine cat lover...Miriam!

ooh miriam i felt exactly like you do.. i was also thinking the poor animals look so sad and bored..maybe its just because i'm used to animals in the wild. i actually have some monkeys living in the trees around my house .i hand fed them but they are still wild and free. i realize these cats has no other choice.. and i do think these people does a wonderful job caring for these big cats..

Hello! I want to reassure you Miriam that these animals are all very well taken care of. Many of them are taken out of their cages for walks all over the compound, and they are all given various forms of enrichment several times a week. I encourage all of you to check out the Waystation Website at www.waystation.org to learn more about what they do for the animals and to see more pics of them. We would always prefer that these animals be left in the wild where they belong, but for many of them this sanctuary is the last option available.
