To answer your question, yes, there's definitely photogenic value in fire escapes, you prove your own point! I am a huge fan of fire escapes, love the linear motion. Walking thru a City like SFO or NYC(especially SoHO), the fire escapes are very interesting, very artistic. They are so much a part of the architecture, and are oftentimes just overlooked. Interesting subject in one of my favourite cities. Of course there is a value in photographing not just fire escapes but anything at all. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that! If not you'd have totally wasted your time here and something attracted you to capture the images in the first place.
