Album Description:
Backyard birds in northern Virginia, taken with my new Canon Powershot S2 IS. Work in progress as I get better with the camera and figure out new ways to sneak up on the birds.

Hi SJ! Thanks for your kind messages in my bird album. I enjoyed your yard bird album very much. Love the first shot of the Yellow Finches especially. The yellow finches are always so cute when they eat upside-down at the thistle feeders. My husband used to set up a camera on a tripod with a remote control attached inside the house and wait for a bird to come to the feeder on the patio. However, the patio is in the shade most of the day and the lighting was terrible, plus he was having to shot through glass. And if we go outside and try to photograph them, they don't fall for that. So we have found that the ones at the zoo are certainly the most friendly. I try most of the time to get them looking as much in a natural setting as possible, but that doesn't always work either. I would really love to have hours to sit outside in a state park and watch for birds who weren't camera shy, but am clueless as to where that would be and really don't have that much time. I bet you have birds in Virginia that aren't native to Missouri; I'd love to see them. Let me know when you add more photos. Have a great day. Sharon from Missouri

Hello. How come I didn't look at this album the last time I came to your homepage? It's charming! I will always admire your patience taking pictures of small and restless animals. These birds' shots made me smile... Thank you... :) Gabby
