  • Wow Marita I can imagine all the stories your parents have dined out on when they got home from this trip! Ssssnakes alive, never smile at a crocodile and beam me up Scotty are phrases I'd have sent BEFORE the event if only I'd known! Thanks for taking us along on such an on the edge walk my friend! I left a couple of messages inside too. Thanks a million for your last batch of wonderful comments - my guestbooks always grin when they see you coming - with great reason! (((huge Aussie hugs)) Lorraine

  • Hi Marita, I'm glad you are still alive! Boy, oh boy this was a great adventure! We have the same kind of parks here in Holland but with ducks instead of alligators. You better don't approach those Dutch duck too close or else it'll produce an aweful sound and fly away. Very exciting! We bring bread for the ducks, I suppose you bring ducks for the alligator, right? Lovely album in which you slowly increase the tense, till the final encounter with the alligator. Boy, I'm still shaking all over, sweating over the whole body and telling you: never, I repeat never go back into that Brazos Bend park! Greetings Tjebbe

  • Whoooa Marita, I hear your parents will be back to the Houston Swamps next....NEVER!!!!! Wow, what a Fun and Exciting Adventure with Fantastic Images, sit on the edge-of-your-seat storyline and a Heroine that saves the day in the end!!! Sounds like the makings a new Hollywood Thriller to me, "Marita's Magnificent Ventures" - (move over Irwin, Corwin and Powers, hehe)!!! All joking aside, this is a wonderful Portfolio of a very memorable excursion and I'm glad you shared it with us my friend!! BTW, Thanks Marita for your kind and heartwarming comments towards the new couple in our family! J&J are honeymooning in Tennessee this week and I know they appreciate the warm wellwishes!! Take care my friend and God Bless!!! Your Eastern Cajun Buddie, Ted

  • Hi Marita, unlucky aligators, they missed the little female German girl. I could see some of these rivers on my doorstep, luckily no nasty big teethed reptiles, non the less, it must have been an interesting trip and one I would thoroughly adore. Great album marita and my apologies for being so late in getting here. take care and lots of hugs from the Saxon Aligator from the Fens, Ken

  • Hi Marita! Thank you for leaving such a nice note on my People in Haifa album. No problem with not understanding the "devil's horns". I figured it's too complex describing it for someone who doesn't know it, esp that it means different things for different people. I know it in the context of Heavy Metal and (jokingly) Satanism. It was popular in Israel in the 90's. However, a quick Google search shows me that the origin was probably in Ancient Greece! Anyway... This album here is one of the most entertaining I ever so. Entertaining from a very safe distance, of course, LOL! But really we can feel the fear very well. Talk about an album with a story! We have a place with aligators in Israel but you don't get really close to them, and when I was there they were only sleeping. Nice adventure you guys had! Best wishes, Orly

  • Hello Marita, thank you for this exciting adventure, I love your captions! I have probably never seen an alligator even in a zoo, must think. This was quite a daring thing to do, walking so near the animal. But you are safe! Great photos, greetings from Finland, Merike

  • Hi Marita! Yikes!!! What a scary album! You are so much braver than I would be - I don't think i'd even manage to get out the camera lol! We don't have any remotely dangerous animals in NZ so this album is a lots of ufn to follow and share in your adventures. I particularly love the captions - made me laugh (nervously!!!)...ha ha! Best wishes and hugs, Kate :)

  • Howdy Marita!! Wow, I have never been to Brazos Bend Park, but now I really want to go! It looks like you had an amazing time, and the photo titles and subtitles were hilarious. Well good news was I did get to Houston, but only for a couple of days. But yes I spent most of the time in the hill country and also Albuquerque. I will put those photos up too. Those photos of the storm have a funny story actually.. It was record heat for April in Kerrville, at 103 degrees! And that very same day a storm was rolling in, as you could see the sky was extremely dark, so I was having a field day getting all these shots. Then it started raining VERY hard, and then it started hailing. The hail stones eventually got up to golfball size, and small tennis balls. It was absolutely amazing. Then, to top it off, the sun peeked through for a moment to create some amazing lighting and a big rainbow. It was definitely a strange day weather wise. My grandparents raise goats and cattle, but no horses, (to my dissappointment) =) But we love the goats, too. Thank you soo much for all of the comments you made on my photos!! Oh, and I was surprised to see one of my photos as your favorite! Thanks again, love from Down Under, Nikki

  • Well that gave your parents an introduction to Houston that they wont forget in a hurry. A ripper album kiddo with wonderful captions. I loved it. So when you coming back to WA to do the same up in the Kimberley eh? With real live crocs for company. Now don't go asking me to do that for you - there is a limit to friendship you know! Now you must tune in to your TV or whatever for news of Cyclone Monica - category 5 and due to hit Darwin full on in a few hours from now. When she's finished there she is said to be headed for the north of WA and after that who knows?? Love and hugs, Peter

  • Marita, You are braver than I would have been. What great photos of a scarey place. You have really captured this wild area great. I thank you for visiting my Columbia river gorge album. My son and family live in Oregon and I get there as often as possible. Someday the plan is for me to move there. I did some hiking in the gorge with my son Brent. Will do it again when time. Have a great day. Jane

  • OMG, Marita! What an adventerous trip you have had. The whole swamp looks so sinister and dangerous. It looks as if it has no beginning and no end. I wonder how you navigated. Anyway, the important thing is that you made it safely. Or am I exaggerating? !! It is a very different kind of album. I like it. Best wishes, Suresh.

Aren't we truly a great great great family or aren't we truly powerful powerful powerful gangsters ... for all humans are so scared of our snapping off their fingures or chewing all their limbs! But we all keep wondering ... wondering why we are so interesting to them if they are really scare of us! But anyway, nice to see you folks, and nice to hear about that you keep alerting those guys ... Houston, we have a problem ... not only from the outer space, not only from the Discovery Channel ... but from everywhere AROUND THE WHOLE WORLD ... REPTILES INVASION! Strongly supporting you ... from mini dinosaur!

  • Migod woman!! Here I was dealing with autumn leaves while you were gallavanting around with 'gators and snakes!!! Sounds like you had a blast! So here I am, back to reality. Slowly catching up in Webshots land ... takes a while, doesn't it! I do have a pile of photos of NZ, but believe it or not, no decent cow and sheep ones!!! Anyway, glad to see you came away from your adventure unharmed! Later girl, Sharon

  • Oh My God, Marita! The adventure you have been through! And you were still taking photos! I think I would throw my camera away and start running and screaming out loud! You really have guts! Snakes, aligators, all those "sweet creatures", I love to see them! On Tv documentaries, of course... not near me... And that big fish in photo 19, he must have some good kilos... that's nice! I guess you and your parents were lucky: the aligators were not hungry! Otherwise they would have tasted Marita... "...the gators laying around on the banks and the bird drying it's feathers.." And Marita taking pictures... At least the bird could fly away... Well, I laughed a lot reading caption 33. I can almost imagine the scene, lol. That crocodile moma certainly thought you would provoke her a big and noisy indigestion, lol. I'm glad she wasn't hungry. She would deprive us of many moments of pleasure seeing your beautiful photos and reading yours captions and messages always so positive and amused. I loved to follow this real adventure. I loved to see your dead too. Next time see if you read the plates well :) Big hugs and kisses from this friend, Rosa
