Album Description:

Last album from Italy in September, taken on a wonderful hike with my dearest friends Ruggero and Maria. Many of the photos were overexposed. Eventually I've discovered that B&W can save some of them, and that I actually like it sometimes.

  • Hello Orly! You do not have to be apolegetic. These are truly beautiful pictures. You did well to convert to b&w those which did not meet your exacting standards. There is beauty is your b$w too. The light and shadows are accentuated and bring out the contrast better. The colout pictures of the lake are breathtakingly beautiful. The water is so azure blue and the mountains in the background so majestic! This is a gem of an album and I am glad you decided to share it. Stay well. Best wishes, Suresh

  • Really it seem there are centuries that we walk all together :-(( !!! A wonderful album and, in my opinion, you made a good choice ;-) when you put some shots in B&W. Truly sometimes I remember the disappoint that you had when we discover the colors problems of yours shots; even if they were minimal you had a big delusion and I was sorry for your mood. Now you have found a great solution for that little problem and looking at your photos I have the same feeling that I had when I look at the old postcards that are very frequent on the refuges on Alps. Color shots of mountains are so usual….. great choice ;-) ! My COMPLIMENTS also for the macros and mainly for the butterflies shots… they are GREAT (I remember that you want leave the little area where we found them and that you have taken MANY shots… :-D ) About the environment what can I say? Nothing of new I think… it’s a place that I LOVE (as you know) and that I have inserted in two albums; this is the reason why I will not create a new collection with the shots that I take with you. Next time (like you wrote) we will go in spring or winter…. so I will have a new situation to show …. OK?? TI ABBRACCIO! Ruggero

  • Hi Orly, Thank you for the invitation to view this wonderful album. I love the scenery, which is always my favorite, and you have some great shots. My favorite photos are in color, as when I was growing up in the 40's and 50's, that is all we had. Color came along later and you can never know how great that was. I think your first photo is much more beautiful in color. You have a super album and I have really enjoyed viewing it. Warm regards, Sharon

  • Hello Orly. These are stunning photos of absolutely gorgeous scenery. I love the way you frame your shots, your editing is very tastefully done and, of course, your captions tell the story. I'll press the button for this one,for sure, despite what you say. LOL Wish we had scenery like that! Hugs, Peter

  • Hi Orly, Congratulations on AT LAST finishing to edit the Italy albums!!! :-) To me it happens very often that the pictures are not what expected, hat remembered from those moments I took them. It is impossible to catch it all, all the flair of the moment. I think your pictures are spectacular!!! The colored and the b/w pictures. The scenery and the flower close-ups! Thanks for your last message - just after your feature! You talked about my cleaning for Passover and my vacation. All long forgotten stuff! Time goes by too quickly. I hope you are fine! And what is Hug Elad doing these days? Have a nice day! Galit

  • Hello Orly. Peter has told me about you and your lovely photos, so imagine how thrilled I was to hear from you this morning. This is the first time I have used a digital camera to take more than one of two odd shots and I must admit that I threw over half of what I had taken away! Again, Peter didn't say anything about sending my album to all his friends so what a shock I had when I switched on this morning and all these messages came tumbling out! It was very sweet of you to write and when I have answered everybody I shall come back to look at your albums more closely because from what I have seen so far they are marvellous. Thanks once again, Hugs, Betty

  • Hi Orly! Wow - I love this mix of B&W and colour!! It seems to make the colours brighter and your B&Ws are beautifully dramatic. I completely identify with your comment about how you discovered that B&W can save some of the overexposed images as that is exactly why I started doing them also! After that, they get quite addictive I think....! Good on you for using the red channel too - looks much better than greyscale. My favourite colour one is Ruggero by the lake, but also 2, 16, 22, 23, 27 and 29. My favourite B&Ws would have to be 1, 3, 18, 30 and 33! Just wanted to say thanks also for making my new page one of your favourites :) Best wishes and hugs, Kate

  • Hi Orly! Great album! Your way of landscapephotography is marvellous. Crampiolo is a beautiful place, which you've portraited very well. I prefer the colorphotos above the B&W ones cause of the deep blue skies, the green grass and trees. The geraniums (4) and the river (7)are my favorites. Greetings, Tjebbe

  • Orly. I acknowledge your guestbook entry in my postcards today. Thank you very much. It was only a Sunday when I could take photos during my business trip, but I got up early, took a taxi, and....the result was a few colorful pictures. I did not want to take a camera with me, but then decided to follow your advice. No regrets, and thanks for the good advice. Regards. Majed

  • Hi Orly, thank you for looking at my cacti. I am happy you liked them. I had so many pictures of them, that I had to cut it down just to a few. And I am STILL taking new pictures of them, thinking every day: Now they are more beautiful than ever. Some day I will reach the point to take some rest. You got lost on a hike of the Hug Elad? ! ? Wow! Better keep taking pictures of the group itself. I mean those stretching exercises for instance, or the friend of a friend. Much better! This way you wouldn't loose them. On the other side: I really like your flower close-ups. For sure they did make you loose the group! :-) How about your great finish at the university? This year is nearly over. Will it be your last? Lots of greetings - Galit

  • Hi Orly, thank you for your nice words in my guestbooks. No, Occitan is not dead, it is still spoken in a large area of France and in some valleys of Italy and of Spain at the border with France. It has no official status in France, but it is taught at school as an option. We also have some fully bilingual schools. Occitan has sometimes been called Provenחal, Limousin or Gascon but now these terms are restricted to the Occitan forms spoken in Provence, Limousin and Gascogne, respectively. There is a Jewish form of the language, called Judeo-Provenחal or Chuadit. It is written in Rachi letters and contains about 10 % Hebrew words. Greetings, Gerard

I released an earlier version of it last year in one of my other accounts but virtually no one visited it so I decided to give it another chance with many new pictures and more informative captions. I hope it will be more successful now. Take care, Yair.

  • Thank you so much Orly fr your many entries in my photobook and buestbook. I am glad that some of the pivtures brought viewing pleasure to you. As I told Ruggero already, I did add the Earth to the bald eagle's photo because of too much sky, and because I want people on Earth to protect this fascinating bird. You mentioned that you saw a bear in Romania, so were you able to photograph it? They do not exactly pose for a photograph like most other animals. I hope you had a good time in Romania, and I look forward to seeing your vacation photos. Kind Regards. Majed

  • Hi Orly :-) Does the title of this album refer to the fact that the Alps are, on this trip, shared with Ruggero... (since all of his Alps albums are titled "MY ALPS")... ? :-D His Alps albums have inspired my husband and I to plan a trip there. It's so beautiful! (As are your shots here) -Pam
