    • Hi Yair: Happy to "have waited" to see the end phase of this amazing plant. Interesting fruit! Has the name to do with the taste? Is it at this time of the year to be found on markets, or only occasionally? Size like tiny apples? Expensive?- Well, sorry for all these questions - it shows at least that your album, as its predecessors, finds big attention! Have a good Sunday - all the best from Kaethi and Henri

    • Yair, I am happy to be the first to comment since you have added the latest pictures. This album is really fascinating....from the tiny bud to the plate. A real journey through the months - with recipes to boot. I don't recall seeing these in the grocery store, but will check it out today, and will ask at some nurseries for plants and if it will grow in our area. Beautiful flowers. Thanks for enlightening me on this. Carol

    • Yair, this is an interesting and beautifully captured album on “Feijoa” – a fruit I’ve never heard of before. Why did Israel transplant it from the mountains of South America Was it draught resistance, pest resistance, or something else? Maybe taste? Whatever the answers, I love your close-up images. Also, thank you for your review and kind comments on our "NM Museum Natural History & Science" album. EdandHelen/Albuquerque

    • Yair ~ Your album on Feijoa brought back sweet memories. My Grandpa had a tree growing in his yard in southern California. As children, we loved to munch on the delicate, slightly sweet flower petals on summer afternoons as a treat. He always told us to leave the rest of the flower so we could enjoy the fruit in the fall. Mmmmmmm! Can't wait to see your pictures of the "green grenades". ~ Cindy *:o)

    • Hi Yair, Thank you for the very interesting album. I'm going to have to check to see where Feijoa is grown in Florida. Maybe I can visit next time I get down there. I'm not sure what the mature fruit is though. Is it only the fleshy leaves that are used in your recipies, or those round green stamens, I think they might be called, in yourlast photos? I will have to check in our local Wegmans supermarkets. They have a lot of exotic fruits and vegetables and bring up a lot of produce from Florida. Very interesting well photographed album Yair. • Hi Yair! I have just had my lunch, time for me to have a little fruit! HeeHee! Our pineapple guava are mostly imported from southern China, Taiwan, or even Thailand. Now back to our business ... the most concern I care about is the remote control to your camera! Not all cameras have remote control accessory except prosumer or professional cameras. Shooting fireworks requires very slow shutter speed of mostly around 1/10 sec to 1 sec, depends on the brightness and duration of each booming firework and how close you are to the fireworks, a few hundred metres or 1 km away is surely a big difference. The problem is that even you mount your camera on the tripod, once you touch your camera and press the shutter button, this will shake the camera a little, and you surely know what the result will be. Some people use the 2-sec delay in the self-timer to avoid touching the camera at the time of exposure, but this is totally useless for shooting fireworks for you will never know when will the next firework BOOM, and is quite troublesome to set the self-timer continuously. Oh dear friend! If you don’t have any remote shutter release to your camera, my only suggestion is that you still mount your camera on the tripod and try your very best to keep your camera stable when pressing the shutter release button. Moreover, as said before, you never know the exact timing of every firework, so keep trying, keep pressing the button ... non-stop. GOOD LUCK TO YOU DEAR FRIEND! Further discussion welcome! See you! CS :D

    • <font color="#000080" > Hi Yair, This is a very interesting album and I’m looking forward to seeing the fruits develop. I had never heard of this fruit before, but its name sounded Portuguese so I assumed its Brazilian origin. Of course, reading your text confirmed it. The flower is a rather beautiful flower as you beautiful picture show , but it’s somewhat surprising that it would produce a tasty fruit. Beautiful flowers seldom do. I hope the shrub resides in your own yard and that you get to enjoy its photography as well as its flavor. A search of the Internet yielded the fact that it is grown here in Florida, but I have never seen it in anyone’s yard nor its fruit on any supermarket shelf. <font color="#b00000" > Greetings from Florida, Paul. <font color="#000080" > P.S. • Hi Yair, thanks for your kind comment in my tulip album. I have never seen this fruit before, but I am very curious at the next fotos of the fruit itself. These are the flowers, isn't it? The recipees are great, but if you don't have the fruit, you maybe can add another fruit. Thanks for sharing this great album with us, greetings from Holland, Hanneke

    • Hello Again Yair, Thank you for another interesting album. Me thinks you cannot wait till the tree is in fruit again!!!!! :-)) I have heard of the Feijoa, but have known nothing about them, now I know quite a lot thanks to you. I have down loaded all the photo's with descriptions and placed them into a folder of their own so if I come across this facinating plant and fruit I will know what to so with it, as I am looking forward to trying the fruit. That is if it is available in the LAND DOWN UNDER. Take Care my friend. Trish, Melbourne, Australia

    • Hey! Yair! I had eaten quite a lot when I'm a child, but now I only sometimes eat them! We have similar Pineapple Guava growing around in SE Asia. Fruits are yummy and there is good supply during July/August time. But we don't eat much for it is not too good for digestion. HaaHaa! INTERESTING pictures! Can't eat much, but I'll keep enjoying Pineapple Guava! All the Best! CS :)

    • Ouch! I thought I read all the descriptions...I missed a lot, otherwise I would have known that this fruit is edible. I was concentrating more on the photos... :((( And my laptop was down yesterday. I also had 0 views yesterday, but I know it's not so. I reconfigured my wireless laptop and today had problem with Webshots Desktop Manager. Coincidence? Anyway, the album is great and if I see this fruit, I'll have to taste it! Best, Roza

    • Hi Yair! Thanks for the invite - this is a beautiful album and I love the rich red of the flowers! We grow feijoa in New Zealand too! It is one of my favourite fruits and we used to pick them off my grandmas tree when we were little :) If I had to pick a favourite it would be #24 because they look like starbursts or fireworks. Looking forward to seeing the fruit in Oct - don't forget to cut one open! Thanks also for your comments about the birds - I guess I will have to take another trip to Dunedin sometime (haven't been there for a while)...You are right about Stewart Island - the kiwi run around in the daylight down there but I have not been fortunate enough to have visited yet (another trip on the cards then?!). We have Kiwi in Christchurch at Willowbank Wildlife Park so I will probably go there in the meantime :) Bye for now! Take care, Kate

    • Hi Yair, thank you for your always kind words in my homeland album. I was a little insecure about it, but it seems that, at least my friends, are enjoying it. Reading the word Feijoa alerted me immediately, because in portuguese we have words as feijדo = bean, feijoca, feijoeiro, feijoada, etc. I believe that portuguese introduced the word in Brazil, during the discoveries, and it has been spread with the fruit... It were not the spanish guys because they call beans "habas". What an exotic and beautiful flower! I haven't seen it when I was in Brazil, because I didn't visit the right places, at South. And you say the fruits is ripen only 5 months after it blooms? It is almost the time of a woman's pregnancy:) By the photos, I can imagine these are very perfumed fruits and flowers. WOW - outstanding photos you have here! It is beautiful in all its phasis! Really fantastic... I'm amazed and delighted. Really great that simetry in photo 10! Ravishing number 12! And what a combination of tastes it has... I'm curious! When I'll go to the supermarket I will visit the tropical section and It's better for them that they have it! Or I'll force them to import it! I don't know guava, but all the others, I love them. Do you have a guava photo in any of your albuns? It's possible it is what we call goiaba... because the spanish translation is alike: guayaba... And you even give us recipes! How sweet! I hope I find the fruit to try it. I like fruit flavours in food. I have copied it. I loved to see the flowers, now I'm waiting for the fruit's photos, ok? Don't you forget! Thank you for the recipes. You, with this beautiful album, and Jill with her bluebells's album had taught to me one lesson, today: when the subject is beautiful, we don't get tired seeing it. So, I'm beginning to get convinced that my album is not really boring, because my fields are also beautiful on its own way. Of course, my photos aren't like this ones... Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful flower with me. All the best and have a wonderful weekend, Rosa
