Album Description:
It was suggested to me by Ron (rboise) of Oregon that I do a bark album, in view of the variety of trees in our area of Uk. So having a go at it, many are rare. (9 fr Far East added nov 21)

Hi Eric, I've been using this album as a bit of a reference to identify some of the trees in my garden. I've got 6 acres with a lot of mixed woodland and some fo the trees I just didn't know what they were until now. Thanks for sharing, Craig

Hi Eric! Somehow, I have only just realised that you have two sites.. This album is magnificent! You have made a wonderful collection of various types of Bark to illustrate the varying textures and colours, and completed the presentation by naming them all. Well done! If I had to choose a favourite, #1 is really stunning.. Thanks for sharing. Hope you enjoyed your holiday and that we see lots of new pics. Pleased you saw the Ningaloo Documentary and hopefully one day you will see it in reality. I have just uploaded "Walking at Sunrise" under this username if you care to view.. Best wishes.. Gladys, Western Australia.

Dear Eric, Wow I'm so impressed just like Jayne. This must have taken you so long to gather all the relevent pictures and to find all the trees in the first place.I will know where to come if ever I'm unsure of a tree's idendity now. I do think your cover shot of the Prunus serulla is wonderful I would have to stroke it too. Take care now and I hope you are enjoying this wonderful weather this week, Jill

Hi Eric, thank you for inviting me to this wonderful album of barks. I enjoyed looking at them and reading about their origin. A very impressive collection of mostly quite old trees from all over the world. I think I've filled up your mailbox with all my picture messages! :-) They are all gorgeous! Thanks for looking at my new trees. I did not plan to do the Jacaranda album, but as I saw that tree untouched in it's form and in full bloom I couldn't resist. Someone else told me about the African Jacaranda, someone from Pretoria. Pretoria is called Jacaranda-City! Have a wonderful weekend! Galit

Eric! You've outdone yourself with this album! First of all, great idea. Second of all wonderful captions very educational and informative! Where ever I've lived and had a garden, I've always planted the trees with showy foilage and bark to have the summer/winter attraction. Here in Houston we don't have much of a winter. But for the 3 - 4 months we do have I planted some crepe-myrtles. They have the most awesome flowers (like Lilac spikes) up to 180 days a year and in winter they have incredible multicoloured bark anywhere from army fatigues camouflage to cinamon/bown shades.(Remind me of the Australian Gum). I don't know if you know this tree but I'll send you some photos this summer, since you love trees so much. Thanks for this great album, and have a fantastic day! Marita

Hi again, Thanks for naming the shrub for me - Pieris! I used to know all the plants in SA and it is frustrating that I don't know many of them here, but I am learning! Take care, Mandy

Hello Eric, This is a wonderful album! Like you, I love trees and their bark is quite fascinating - your album shows just how different it can be from tree to tree! Thank you for your message in my African album - you do tend to see the same faces, I don't think they are iconic, though. This particular face is appealing because he portrays different moods when you look at him from various angles. Thanks for visiting! Best wishes, Mandy (who is only getting about in Cumbria - haven't you noticed my albums are almost all from here? Very boring!)

Hi Eric, Appreciate the invitation, espetially when it happens to do with trees from other countries. Downloaded #s 1 and 71, now on my Favorite list on my homepage. Excellent-both. I should get out and take more myself. Glad you took my advice in shooting your own tree bark. Quite informative along the way too, do appreciate knowing what the different species are, because trees are sometimes so similar, yet different. A super nice album, well shot throughout. Again, thanks for the invite, I found it quite educational. Best regards to you and yours and greetings from a southern Oregon coastal city. Ron

Hi Eric! This is a very interesting & informative album. I know that sounds dull, but it's not! You wouldn't think that there would be so many varied barks--each one is different, even when related species! Thanks for sharing this!---Nancy
