Album Description:

These are the photos that I took of the tornado that hit Logan & Union Counties on Nov. 10, 2002. The main cloud went right over me, while I watched about 6 mini twisters all around me. Then that was when the large tornado formed. I am very lucky.

  • I was working at TRC that night. That was the only time I ever saw one. The first one (a very small, thin one) was just to the north of me. It touched down less than a 1/4 mile away, and lifted off the ground after about 20 or 30 seconds. It tried to come down again, but never reached the ground. A few minutes later, I saw the one (I'm assuming) that went through West Mansfield, but from a different (safer) viewpoint. The sky toward East Liberty Honda was black, and a long white tube came down, bent, then was nearly parallel to the ground.

  • Hey Jeff, Jackie here, HI Di, these tornado pictures are truly very good. I did't realize you had shot it from beginning to end. Wow! See you at work.

  • Jeff, These pictures are awesome. I doubt if very many people have photographed a tornado from beginning to end. That was a very scary day.
