  • Looks like you folks had a great time in the back country. I enjoyed taking the arm chair hike. I've been day hiking/peak bagging for years in the range but never pack into the back country. This album makes me want to get on over a few passes and spend some time up in there.

  • This trek did not exactly follow the JMT. We started at Glacier Point rather than Yosemite Valley, cut-off across Vogelsang to upper Lyell Canyon, then stayed on the official trail until we were below Silver Pass, which we bypassed in favor of Goodale to our food drop at Lake Edison. We then returned to the JMT via Bear Creek, and stayed on it until we got over Pinchot Pass, where we took off down to Cedar Grove via Paradise Valley for our 2nd food drop. We bypassed Rae Lakes, returning to the JMT via Bubbs Creek, stayed with it to the camp west of Whitney which we climbed as a dayhike without packs. We then spent another 4 days heading back to Cedar Grove via Colby and Avalanche passes. Whew. Get a Map.
