Hi Maria, I have viewed this album three times already, it is an outstanding one full of colour and brilliant composition, it seems that we have followed a similar line in collecting forest photo,s over a period of time, I started collecting mine last Feb with my new album in mind even then. Easy Maria :o) You take 2 exposures of the same scene (play just with the shutter, not aperture): one overexposed to get the foreground details and one underexposed to get a dramatic sky. Then you select the the good sky (or foreground) on one pic and copy it on the other pic. Then you smooth the merging boundaries to blend the 2 layers. The selection and the smoothing can take time... It's not only for landscapes: in my latest album, I did the same to get the details of both the inside of the cathedral and of the stained glass window :o) Now there are some sw that do HDR: same principle, but with more than 2 exposures. A tripod is a must for these :o) Ciao! Roberto

To George: I don't use PhotoShop but another, more basic editing program, an older version of Corel (PaintShop Pro 8). Since I shoot mostly in auto mode, and my camera is not a great one, I, almost, always have to adjust the brightness, contrast, color, etc, so yes, I do that manually in Corel.

Hi, Maria, I'm not exactly sure how to send a response to your reply to my earlier comment, so I'll send it to you here, if you don't mind. McWay Falls, so I am told, is in Jean Pfeiffer Burns State Park, about 15 miles south of Carmel. Apparently, it is the only waterfall in the U.S. (outside Hawaii) that empties directly into the ocean. I've seen many depictions of the area on Webshots, but I have a feeling you would bring something distinctively different to photos of the area. Maria, This is a totally captivating, thoroughly enchanting and magnificently beautiful album -So very well done - I think it may be my favorite, but ALL your albums are so wonderful - Thanks so much for sharing -You were so kind in your comments on my albums and you had asked about the resolutioin in some of my photos. Maria, I was going to leave this message in your guestbook, but noticed that I can't post there. I want to thank you for the comment on my creative challenge photo. This is the first time that I have entered creative challenge. In fact, I wasn't looking at the homepage very often so didn't even know it existed until recently. The day I took the photo, the only reason I had the camera out was because I found a praying mantis, which I decided to photograph, and from there I just kept taking photos - flowers, bees/wasps, ladybugs, and if I recall correctly a spider. Once I get started taking photos, I take way too many. lol. You are a talented photographer. I see that you were born in Romania. Do you every exchange messages with Andreea? She lives in Romania. I should of been off my computer along time ago, but each time I saw a new thumbnail I'd say, "Ok, just one more!!" I finally had to pry myself away!! This is a marvelous album!! Maria, I almost forgot to mention - 1- the Seagull in the water picture was a super-imposition of a water ripple effect over a picture of a seagull in the air with the blue sky background - so the original was just the gull flying and, hopefully, the effect made it a bit more interesting - ;-D 2 - You had asked about my getting so close to some of the wildlife, Some were at zoos and some at open wildlife preserves where the animals are
