Album Description:

Comet McNaught has been visible in our Western Australian skies for the last few evenings and I was lucky enough to see it and be able to get a photo of it just half an hour after sunset. While i was waiting i took a few cloud shots just for fun!

    • Hi Peter. Sorry to hear that you missed out on the latest lunar eclipse. The weather can be so fickle. At least you got good shots of the comet. That's one I missed altogether. I hear there will be another lunar eclipse in 4 years time !

    • Hi Peter - a fabulous selection of sky and sunset photos with a great finale! I am long overdue in viewing your many albums and complimenting them accordingly but I've not had a smoothly running computer since last April. One of the many crunch times came last week when, following a new hard drive being installed, within 3 weeks I've had 2 crashes. Not only is the extensive backlog from last April still as good as untouched getting to me, but with the endless lot following that has been more than frustrating. It seems like it's going to be an eternity before I'll, once again, have the pleasure of sitting back and enjoying Webshot albums :-( I hope you're keeping well and more so, hope it won't be TOO long before I'll be paying you what will be very belated, much deserved compliments on the albums I've missed out on in such ages. Best wishes, Sue

    • Hi Peter, I am not getting to spend the time I used to on Webshots these days, but I get there eventually! Thanks for sharing these great photographs - it looks like the comet was well worth the wait because you had a beautiful sunset! I have a new (little) Hawkshead album you might like - only a few shots and not much to write home about, but I know you like the Lake District, so you might like a look. Take care and have a good weekend! Mandy

    • Hi Peter. Great pics of the comet & the sunset. Best of the comet I have seen on the net. My sister got really excited when she saw these. I did another trip through the countryside. Barrington Tops was drier than last year but the Dorrigo area was beautifully green. Probably the only green area in the state at the moment. If you travel over this way I can highly reccommend it. Cheers .. Michael

    • This is a wonderful sunset and sky album! I've looked through others of yours and if we were ever to embark on a "real" journey, I think the place to visit would be Australia. What a beautiful country! I want to thank you, too for visiting and signing my Funny Photos and Fixed Fotos album gb. Thanks, too, for your compliments and kind and funny comments! I'll have to try "modernizing" some of the 2000+ glass plate negatives a friend has; his Scottish parents were photographers in the early 20th C. once they emigrated to the USA. Some of the filters I used on the cartoons were from early Adobe Photo Deluxe and Ulead Photo Impact programs. Later, I switched to PhotoShop CS and in that I use the various Distort and Liquify filters to distort, and posterize for the cartoon effect. Mostly I just experiment to see what strikes my fancy! For photo restoration, now it's PS all the way. Some things still have to be done by hand but the work goes much more easily with a more up-to-date product! There are so many free brushes and actions to download for PS that now I'm trying my hand at "painting"; I never even thought about doing that before but started around the new year. It's great fun! Again, wonderful photos of your beautiful country! Janice

    • Hello Peter, thanks for opening the door to this album. It was just frustrating to see that even my old sesame key couldn't do it. I've tried Abracadabra, Simsalabim, even Hocus-pocus but it wouldn't work. - Peter, I enjoyed your colorful pictures and I enjoyed your playing around with that 'hell of a zoom' you have on your new camera. I KNOW you enjoyed it too! :-) I've never seen a Comet so this is a very special pleasure to me. Have a lovely weekend! Lots of hugs to you and Betty - Galit
