  • Hey Grizz: Great history lesson here and ideally documented. The thoughts of being on a train crossing that trestle gives me the willies. I hope you and yours are keeping well. All my best, Ron.

  • Hi there, this album really captured my attention, went through it twice and also read it twice. It certainly is an awesome piece of engineering the 1954 picture of the passenger train going over it certainly is mind blowing. Thanks for the recent comments the seagulls one happened because it was a dull windy day and I was bored. For now best wishes Paul.

  • They're getting close to deciding to refurbish the tressel....I hope they don't tear it down. Will have to look for the old gold mine above Goldstream you mentioned on my site...son will be thrilled. Thanks Grizz

  • I remember we cycled from Shawnigan to Cowichan Lake and since the tressel looked a little too dangerous to cross <wink> we crossed the raging river below carrying our bikes. We went the long way around on the way back. ;-)

  • Beautiful album. Brought big lump to my throat. My brothers and I would ride the train as it turned around on the turn table headed back towards Monterey, Calif. Now that's just a trailer park. So sad.

  • What can I say??? Marvelous, educational, and wonderful engineering feat to behold. Love it!! Now you have awakened me to do a few video things. Also you have created my desire to travel, I do anyway but even moreso when you see something you would dearly love to see in person. A+ job-no doubt about it!!

  • Another interesting bit of our history captured by your camera. It is interesting to see how objects constructed without all the modern technology have held up so well. Good work. Ride safely {not on the Trestle} Jo.

  • Thanks for braving the elements to get these great shots for us of this piece of history. What a shame some people want to burn it. It is truly a masterpiece in design for its time.
