Puddingstone Lake, San Dimas CA 2/03

These photos were taken in February of 2002. This is winter in the mild southern California climate and everything was green... Puddingstone Lake (really a man-made reservoir) and Bonelli Park, in which it's located, is a large Los Angeles County Regional Park. This relatively large lake nutures and supports a considerable amount of wildlife–both migrating and indigenous–which have increasingly come to depend on it as development has closed down so much open space in the surrounding areas. This critical habitat area is in constant need of protection, as various schemes to expand Raging Waters theme park have been proposed. So far, these efforts been beaten back by local citizens and surrounding towns. Although Bonelli Park lies within the City of San Dimas, the County has jurisdiction over it. So us local citizens have to be vigilant, especially now that nearby Walnut Creek is quite possibly going to be developed for a few, very large and expensive homes is going through the County approval process. (It is in an unincorporated area.)
