Album Description:
Federation Square is a public space in the heart of Melbourne, it's located on the corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets at the southern gateway to the central business district. Since it opened on October 26, 2002, it has been both loved and despised

Hi Keith, Thanks for the invite. I'm not sure which way to go with this. You have great shots here, but the subject was a difficult one, wasn't it? Something that I wouldn't go to Melbourne to see, but like you said, it's either love it, or hate it, and I'm still deciding which one. Definitely interesting though. Hugs mate Chris and Jay

Thanks for telling me about this one. It's different isn't it? Looks like it was designed with tongue in cheek but your captures probably show it up in a better light than it really is. As an album of photos it is great but as a subject I'm a bit like Chris - can't make up my mind on first acquaintance! I've been right through it on slideshow but made a note of a few that I want to have a closer look at. Hope all is well over your side. Cheers now, Peter

Hi Keith, This is a great album showing Fed Square at it's best and as a Melbournian, I should do the tour that you did, to try and see the value and qualities of the place ... but maybe I am too old fashioned for that kind of architecture ..... I still cannot find any redeeming qualities ... For a Sydneyite you did very well to portray it as well as you did .... Thank you for sharing. Take care my friend, Lots-A-Big-Hugs, Trish.

Greetings from Western Michigan Keith. Your album is great! There are so many photo ops in and around the Square that you must feel like going back time after time. I especially like your reflection in the glass shots and your last shot is spectacular - from a lofty vantage point. All in all a very interesting album. - Best regards, DeeAnne :)

Hi Keith! I never realised the enormity of this unique structure before seeing these photos, and I can now understand what a challenge it is to the photographer. It is certainly very 'different' and it wasn't until I saw the last photo that I really started to understand the design. That overview in #48 really puts it into perspective, and the idea of utilizing the space above the railway lines is a brilliant concept. The colours of the sandstone, zinc and glass really appeal, especially when lit by the sun, and I love that Kimberley sandstone... You have accomplished a difficult task here and thankyou for showing me this unique part of Melbourne which I have never had the chance to see in reality... Best wishes, Gladys, Western Australia.

Greetings Keith and thanks for the invite to what might be considered by many to be a bit of an oddball. The angles are all pretty amazing and as you said the stairs are at least okay! I've never seen anything quite like this and I really appreciated the last photo to put the visual all together. I think that if I lived there it might take some getting used to but no doubt I would eventually come around! Superbly photographed! Leslie/VancouverIsland/Ca nada

Hi Legend! The photos are great but I hate Federation Square. I think it's bloody ugly. I'm not bagging you mate, I know you didn't design it. Be good mate! Al

Very interesting album Keith! I've never seen the building completed, so thanks for the informative tour. Like any hyper modern architecture like that I am sure it stirred up quite a bit of controversy! I do think parts of it are quite beautiful and fascinating (like the sandstone in the steps, the fractal panels),how it fits into the cityscape is always a different story..(toaster etc..).Have good day.
