We have three different species of snakes here in the United Kingdom, The Poisonous Adder or it is sometimes called the Viper, The Grass Snake and the very rare Smooth Snake both of whom have no venom and are harmless to people.

Snakes alive, Andy! This is a very unusual album and a very useful one! People who do a lot of hiking or camping need to know what an adder looks like, so I will be sending e-cards of the adder close-up to acquaint them with its appearance. My daughter also has an interest in snakes, so she will probably be downloading every picture! I hope that you were using the zoom lens, when you photographed the adder!
