I saw this on Jay Leno earlier in the summer. It was a site to see. It was in like a big collispable swimming pool.Unbeliveable but true. You have some great photos of it.

This is a great album for lifting the spirits. I can't imagine trying to train a squirrel to do this. It's probably worse than teaching a cat to come when it's called. Terrific collection of fun shots.

I had to look this up online, because 27 yrs seemed way too long for a squirrel to live.... What I discovered is that this is probably Twiggy IV (4th generation of trained squirrels) It's an interesting story of how a rescued squirrel became a skiing squirrel quite by accident, and it then became the family's passion. http://00de39a.netsolhost.com/index.htm I love the pretty blue water in this composition, makes you want to jump right in for a swim. I emailed the owner to let her know of the feature in webshots. Pretty cool :), thanks for waiting all day long to grab these shots ! I agree, perfect framing on the shot!

I've seen the water-skiing squirrel on the TV on and off for years. Of course, I'm in the L.A. area, where strange is normal. Glad to see him(her?) doing well. Great pictures. Hope the grandkids see the value of treating wildlife well.

Congratulations on your POTD - great shots - I love this quote from Twiggy's website "Chuck and Lou Ann also trained other animals to water-ski, two miniature horses, two French poodles, a black cat, an armadillo and a toad frog. They even taught a squirrel named Ollie to jet-ski" Now who wouldn't want to see an armadillo water ski - that must have been a sight!!

Animals are so amazing! Much smarter than we so-called 'superior' beings usually give them credit for. He looks like he's totally enjoying the attention. I'm wondering if I can make friends with my neighbourhood hazelnut tree squirrel. He gets a little close from time to time and acts like he wants to be friendly. But so many other people scare him off. I'm going to keep trying - I like squirrels. Thanks so much for sharing these photos.

I think Twiggy is incredible ! In what way could anyone think he is abused. He's one lucky squirrel!! It always amuses me when people call abuse without knowing for sure what the lives of trained animals are like. How many squirrels are run over on roads, killed because of deforestation and human encroachment? I suppose guide dogs for the blind and police dogs are also abused? Why not train a squirrel; they are obviously very intelligent. Keep up the excellent work.

What, the rest of us are chopped liver? How many times does one get to see a water skiing squirrel? Never realized the little guys would even get in the water.. Great job by the way :-) and judging by the number of views.. you either have some humongous number of grandkids.. or there are lots of 'anyone elses' that loved this album :-)
