  • Paola - The only venomous snake here I have seen or photographed is the Pygmy Rattlesnake. We have several other venomous species, but the Great Blue Herons eat the Water Moccasins (Cottonmouth), and the rest are either very shy or more rare. This is all new to me too, where I grew up & lived most of my life - New York State - we only had harmless Garter Snakes ! Glad you enjoyed my photos ! - Pat

  • you are a lot impressed from how many snakes you have succeeded to photograph! They are much numerous in your country? Here in Italy they are not looked at often. We look at ourselves anywhere we are a little of sun many lizards, but little snakes. I was trying to understand which are dangerous. Here l' only with the poison it is the viper. Never they have not succeeded to photograph it. However it is not aggressive, l' I have seen several times, but I was that I tried to follow it in order to admire it, she I escape! (he pardons English, I translate with Internet) - Paola

  • Another one I will be showing to my grandkids. I have tried to hard to keep them from being afraid of spiders, bats, snakes, insects by continuing to tell them what good they do. I also did that in my classroom. I was always amazed when my students would come into my room they thought they had to kill any thing they found. I'm afraid that many adults and teachers had the same attitude. By the end of the year they were gently taking it to the window to turn it loose. I wish I could take those same adults and change their attitudes.

  • Hi Pat! What a fascinating collection of snakes! I can't say that I am afraid of them, but I'd rather not run across one and have it startle me!! As things stand now, we are going to be wintering in SE Georgia...near Brunswick...how far is that from you?? E-mail me and let me know! Have a great weekend my friend...hug, Dar
