A walk from my front door over High Rigg on the morning after snow fell in the night. Just an inch at home but on the fell the snow was about six inches deep along the summit ridge whichn at 1,200 feet, is only 600 feet higher than my garden.

How different it looks to when we were there in mid February. We haven't had any snow like this here. Best wishes, Dave.

Hi John, I really enjoyed your set of pictures. The monochrome in snow gives them more atmoshpere anyway!..Many thanks for sharing. Dave B (ofc)

Hi John, Just been back for another look ,,, I had to see that cloud that Peter mentioned over Lonscale Fell again! It never occurred to me that there were no shots of the summit. I'm a simple soul! The snow, unbelievably, has almost disappeared from here now and the daffs are fine! Jill

Like many people I woke up this morning to find it had snowed in the night. Now I like walking in snow but I have never been very keen on walking over high fells within 12 hours of fresh snow. I prefer to wait until it consolidates and walk over them the following day. So I opted today to walk High Rigg which, at 1200 ft is just 600 ft higher than my garden. Despite an earlyish start I was not the first to set foot on the fell and by the time I reached the summit it seemed that half the population of Keswick had chosen to do the smae walk as me! Graham and Sarah must have done a roaring trade at Low Bridgend tea garden which opened this weekend after being closed during the winter. There was about six inches of snow on the top of the ridge compared to just an inch at Fornside. I think it started snowing at Fornside at about 3am. Prior to that we had rain which I think fell as snow on the fells from about midnight. A word about my photos. I wore insulated gloves. This gave me warm hands but meant that I was a bit ham fisted with the camera controls! So in the middle of the sequence you will find that the photos are in monochrome and there are none at the summit because I managed to put the camera on a delay setting!! I mananged to realise what I had done by the time we reached St Johns Church.

Ohhhh ,,, a snowy lakeland and I'm not there! Some lovely shots John, it looks deep up there. We had about four inches here. Jill
