Hello: I must say you have an impressive collection of trips you have taken. I have not viewed all of them, just those I have been on. I am searching for information on Vee Lake and Bear Lake System. Just West of Pine Creek Pass and Royce Lakes. I am an avid backpacker and fly fisherman and try to plan a week plus backpacking trip every summer in the Sierras. During the last 10 years I have been looking for large native Goldens, as I would like to catch a large one, take a picture and release it. Then when I get home have a taxidermist make a plastic replica from the picture (a common practice now days). I always start from the East Side. I have been up Shepard's Pass to rumored Lake South America, but only caught 9 to 10 inchers. I have been up Pine Creek Pass and caught a 17" Golden/Rainbow Hybrid, a very nice fish, but it was not a pure strain Golden. The largest Pure Golden I have caught was from Piute Pass, a 13"er from Desolation Lake. This summer I was going to travel from Pine Creek Pass over to Vee Lake and the Bear Lakes. I heard there are large Goldens there, or is this a rumor? Can you give me some information on the fishing in this area, OR steer me in a direction where there are obviously no pack trains, few people and lakes that hold large Pure Strain Goldens? Thank you for your information Randy Phelps FISHINFUOL@AOL.COM
