What I meant (in my 1st comment) is that I think of the NW coast (West coast in general) as being cliffs & rocks & then a short beach before the water. Here in the SE we have JUST sand (no rocks at all), & it is all totally flat except for the dunes (which are also actually pretty flat in the grand scheme of things) & all the grasses.
