  • When the water freezes over up north and there is no place to fish, hundreds of eagles come south and hang out at the dams long the Mississippi River..as far south as Alton, IL. Many river towns have Eagle Weekends in January and February just to attract tourists to see them. Even though the river is sometimes frozen over, the water below the dams is always churning, providing fishing holes for the eagles. By the end of February, they have started back north. A few stay year round, but not many.

  • Hi, I love this album. I have never seen this many Bald Eagles together. We have Bald Eagles here in NE Oklahoma, and I see one occasionally, but only the one. The Sutton Avian Registration Center has set up two camera's on an Eagle nest near Sooner Lake, close to Stillwater, OK. Here is the link, if you'd like to go in and watch her and her mate, live. She has three eggs. Occasionally, the wind will mess up the camera's, and they're down for a while, but usually they get them fixed pretty quick. I hope you enjoy it. http://www.suttoncenter.org/eaglecam.html
