The northern (early Spring) migration of the "Sandhill Cranes". The cranes gather in several locations along Nebraska's Platte River Valley. The photos were taken just west of North Platte, Nebraska from and near Buffalo Bill Cody's "Scout's Rest Ranch"

Really fine shots of these gracefull birds. By strange co-incidence I have just read the weekly email from UK "Birdguides" & grear excitement in birding world as a Sandhill has been spotted up in the Orkney Is, the first for 16 years in UK. We do have a few European cranes in Norfolk & we have a breeding programme to re-introduce them more widely. Eric

This is a very nice album, and it warms my heart to see that the cranes are still in the valley in great numbers.

Hi Marv, I really like seeing these close-ups of the cranes, I like to visit the "crane cam" at the Nat. Geographic web site. It is wonderful to watch and listen to them. That site is near Gibbon. We have lots of Canadian Geese here. I'm inspired to try to catch more of them in flight.
