Album Description:

On my return flight back to Manila from an assignment in Leyte province, I caught this lovely scene from my window seat. Just as the fiery sunset & the plane's wing came into view, I quickly remembered the expression "on a wing and a prayer".

    • Dear Mary Ann, This little album is only small in size. It is large in its beauty and your wonderful annotation. You have a beautiful gift both with photography and with words. You are a gift to us. Thank you for visiting my Hearts album. I am always thinking of you. Happy Valentine's Day, Mary Ann. ..Betty

    • The common expression, "on a wing and a prayer", comes from a famous American World War II patriotic song which came out at the end of 1942, with words by Harold Adamson & music by Jimmy McHugh. It tells the tale of a plane struggling home after a bombing raid: "Comin’ in on a wing and a prayer / What a show, what a fight / Boys, we really hit our target for tonight / How we sing as we limp through the air / Look below, there’s our field over there / Though there’s one motor gone / We can still carry on / Comin’ in on a wing and a prayer."
