My husband Hannes and myself love our little terroris parrot called Karolus. The name should actually be changed to the female version which is Karolina because after two year we found that "he"& quot; is actually a "she". We have created a 30cm high from the floor up, play-pen for her, she plays all day, she has an area of 1.2 x 3m to walk around and play with her toys and she has a full size birdbath (garden ornament type)on a 1m. high stand with water available all day every day, with a chain hanging to the floor for climbing as well as a ladder. Her cage hangs from the roof, also a 75cm. long hanging sesal tree trunck which took her 3 months to hollow out, a bird tree that I made for her of branches of an Indian Pride shrub tree (which is not poisonous for them) and a high swing, a large bucket on the floor with shredded paper in which she scratcth the way birds and chickens dowes in the ground, this keep her nails trimmed. We also give her pieces of wood to shred and that keeps her beak trimmed. She is a happy free parrot and only talks when we travel, I was told that parrots talk because they are board and try to communicate by mimmicking what we say. Our parrot is free in her open top penn. She lover her Rooibos tea,oatmeal porridge, defrosted and slightly heated corn of the cob fruit, maize rice, birdsead, sunflower seeds, seasand bowl for digestion of her food and filtered water. She sometimes lies on her back playing, She is very special we love her to bits.

I would like to congratulate you, I think your album is wonderful and would like to know how to go about sending photos of my parrot. I would like to know alot more about the do's and dont's for African Ring Neck parrots. How old do they get? Can they have banana, please supply a list of recommended fruit and foods. Many people allow these bird to feed off there dinner table but I am not sure wether that is so healthy for them, thinking about oily and salted foods, my parrot loes slightly sweetened tea is that OK.

She first wondered free in our home until she showed me the colours of the various electrical wires running inside my sewing machine’s electrical power cord, luckily she did not bite through both wires at the same spot otherwise she would have been shocked to death. To save her from injury, we have created, play-pen for her, which is 30cm high from the floor up. She plays all day, she has an area of 1.2 x 3m to walk around and play with her toys and she has a full size birdbath (garden ornament type) on a 1m. high stand with water available all day every day, with a chain hanging to the floor for climbing as well as a ladder.
