  • We are doing research on a house in Sumpter, Oregon where there was a dredge built by your great grandfather, W.P. Hammon. The connection with the Powder River Gold Dredging Company in Sumpter, Oregon is that W.P. Hammon's nephew, Roe Willis Derby lived in a house in the 1910s and 1920s while managing the dredge. Ellen I. Hammon was his mother who was the sister of W.P. Hammon. The state of Oregon is restoring the house as part of interpretion of the dredge. Do you have any photos of the Sumpter house or the family during their time in Oregon. Your can e-mail me at sjdono@aol.com if you have information or know any other relatives that might be helpful to talk to. Thank you for your time. Sally
