Yes ... I can see the resemblance you are referring too. If you even get onto Boy Scout Tree Trail in Jedediah Smith Redwoods, keep an eye out for a redwood on the left in a partial clearing - maybe 150 feet off the trail - with a "ligno tuber" growth on the trunk that looks like an alligator head. It may be where a log is cut to let the trail pass through, and a seat is cut into the log. We prepared lunch there.
