Album Info:
Many people have heard a sonic boom, but few have seen one. When an airplane travels at a speed faster than sound, density waves of sound emitted by the plane cannot precede the plane, and so accumulate in a cone behind the plane. When this shock wave passes, a listener hears all at once the sound emitted over a longer period: a sonic boom. In the right conditions, a humidity cloud can form in association with the cone, as seen here.

Isn't this just amazing!! Can you just imagine seeing something come out of a boom instead of leaving it behind?? One day who knows, by leaving something like this behind, we may just see something come out afterwards. Goodness me!! Wonderful shot.

Hello Richard. Where I used to live, the sonic boom was a way of life. Throughout the day you would often hear them, 2 or 3 times. Many times you'd feel them shake the house, and actually vibrate things off of thier surface or walls. I knew I could hear and feel them, I did not however know there was something to actually see. Thanks for explaining that!

Kind of eerie...reminds one that sound has a physical shape. It must ##### to not be able to hear one of these coming at you before it drops its payload.

Thanks for the explanation. I've always wondered if this was created in Photoshop.
