Album Info:

I still remember a "scorcher" day in 1944, when: 2 teenage girls saw me, 5, playing barefoot in my yard at 1458 Chestnut, said I was adorable, asked could they take me for ice cream at 13.5 & Wabash. Mom said yes. At this corner, the black asphalt was too hot for my feet. The girls faced each other, made a chair of their arms by clasping their own and each others elbow, scooped me up in this chair of arms and carried me across, like a little prince, to get some ice cream. Big smile.
