Not affiliated with doe in previous photo, but was indeed courting a female as I blundered down lover's lane, uninvited. Female browsed in background, off-camera, aloof. Buck stood firm, stared me down, kept stamping a hoof to earth in defiance. Maslow was right about his hierarchy of needs thing. A deer free from concern over being shot is a deer free to bully the hikers. We agreed to fight like real men - with knives only.
