Cookes Peak and old something or other (windmill turbine?)

Album Info:
I find good water at Hadley Draw, and from there a road heading east for some distance. As it eventually veers northward, I continue cross-country to the ENE, approximately in line with a distant hill that looks exactly like a Hershey's Kiss. This leads, not to chocolate, but more good water at a plainly visible windmill, by a road. North of the corral is this old something or other. Whoever can name its function, drop a note in the guestbook for this album!

This is an old Pump Jack. They were put on a platform next to the well under a windmill tower to hook to the sucker rod and pump water when there wasn't enough wind to keep water for the livestock. They mounted an engine also and ran the pump jack with a belt.
