The adobe remains of a late 19th century army outpost built to protect the nearby Butterfield Overland Stage Route from Apache raids. The settler's wagon route ran from the Midwest to California. Walking east along the relic route, I barely find this place, hidden behind a hill as I emerge from a canyon. Nor am I able to leave the scene correctly after an hour's rest in the shade of these fast-eroding ruins; I bumble over barded-wire and across private property before ascertaining my bearings.
