A local oil company sponsored this trip for the school to show us, not only an oil platform, but a field of oil vents on the ocean floor. What good Public Relations... showing us that this occurs naturally and is not an oil spill! Looks like a lovely watercolor painting, doesn't it! It's an actual photo of a natural slick that covers several miles of waters in the Santa Barbara Channel near Coal Oil Point. Natural oil and gas seeps there leak an estimated 6,000 gallons of oil a day!
