I was walking down the main road in the canyon below the Chuparosa Inn when I heard an unusual insistent trilling call. I located this tiny fledgling Elegant Trogon sitting in a low shrub just off the road. The bird fluttered a few times and landed on a rock. This is undoubtedly one of two babies that had recently fledged from a nest at the B&B several days before we arrived. The adults are uncommon and highly sought after by birders, but this is the first fledgling I have ever see
