Near the end of a LONG day trying to approach Service Falls from the north, I was following an elk trail down a steep slope when I almost ran into this guy, a beautifully antlered specimin of fine-grade Roosevelt Elk. I tried to get out of his way as he watched me a couple minutes. He eventually ambled off down into the forest, disappearing almost immediately, as if into smoke.
